The Department of Information Services at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University is seeking a full time Senior Programmer Analyst. The successful candidate will: - Reporting to the AVP & Deputy CIO of Clinical Applications, the Clinical Applications Analyst will collect and aggregate data from various providers and be responsible for the translation and interpretation of operational requirements to support the development of clinical, financial and statistical reports. - Be responsible to identify project requirements to support key initiatives. Keep abreast of data/ reporting needs by studying the regulatory materials. Design the reporting tool necessary to support the program including creating dashboard data to informed decision making body of SUNY DMC leadership. - The individual will create weekly, monthly and annual reports for SUNY DMC senior management. In addition, the Clinical Analyst will work in connection with the staff to insure a proper operating environment is established to support the successful implementation of relevant applications. - Assist with the creation and execution of project plans, contributing to remediation plans when requirements and/ or timelines change - Generate data from CPM reporting tool - Contribute to the planning and scheduling of project timelines and milestones using the appropriate tools - Develop and deliver Progress Reports, Proposals, Requirements Documentation and Presentations - Diagnose task/ procedural change issues and helps to resolve the problem - Ensure that Project documents are current and complete, as well as appropriately managed and stored - Contribute to project post mortems and creates Lessons Learned reports to identify Project elements that were both successful and unsuccessful - Produce project status reports as defined by project manager - Communicate difficult and sensitive information tactfully - Communicate relevant Project Information to superiors - Effectively apply the company's Project Management and Software Development Lifecycles methodology and enforces Project standards - Minimize exposure and risk on a Project - Ensure timely completion of Project level tasks - Assist in the identification of resources needed - Deliver informative and well-organized presentations to the Project team and Management - Provide training on new HealthBridge functionality - Perform all other related duties as assigned (DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE ABOVE POSITION DESCRIPTION) QUALIFICATIONS: REQUIRED: - At least 6 years of current leadership experience participating in the planning, design, development/ building, training, implementation, maintenance and evaluation of existing or new functionalities related to HealthBridge Clinical Information System. - Knowledge of software and tools required to support assigned Clinical Applications such as programming tools, application tools, operating system software, database software, and other 3rd party products. Current working knowledge of PC applications, including Word, Excel and Visio, Allscripts CPM, Healthix, Alpha, Image works, and BlackBoard - Excellent interpersonal, written, communication, analytical, and organizational skills with creative approaches to information systems issues and problems. Bachelor degree in Statistics, Management, Healthcare - Information System or equivalent experience. - Proficiency with MS Office (Including Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Access), MS Project and MS Visio. Experience with commercial HER and clinical ancillary systems. A working knowledge of industry coding (revenue codes, ICD 10 classifications, CPT codes, etc.). Strong knowledge of SQL, SAS or Microsoft Access programming. Three (3+) years of experience in working with various data base schemas to support the development of system reports. Five (5+) years of experience with commercial reporting tools such as Crystal Reports and Business Objects. - Ability to work with confidential information and maintain appropriate levels of confidentiality in utilizing and communicating such data is a must. - Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills are essential for success.
