Part of UTA's elite support team – Responsible for managing/leading student staff and Jr. Analysts. Providing on going supervision and coaching to technical associates and student workers. Providing end to end technical advice, guidance and informal training to customers using hardware and software programs. Participate in establishing and maintaining a strategically sound departmental compliance program to ensure that information assets are adequately protected, insuring consistency with regulatory and compliance requirements that govern cyber security for the department. Assist with supporting cloud platforms and applications such as Office 365, AWS, or other major infrastructure platforms and Desktop-as-a-Service or Software-as-a-Service offerings. Researches, evaluates, tests new hardware/software and makes recommendations to campus university based on findings.
Imaging, Packaging and Cloud Technologies Create, maintain and update universal images deployed to UTA owned assets. Packaging and scripting software deployments. Maintain software packages installed on UTA owned assets through software management tools or installed manually. Assist with supporting cloud platforms and applications such as Office 365, AWS, or other major infrastructure platforms and Desktop-as-a-Service or Software-as-a-Service offerings. Patch Management & Security Utilize server-based computer-management tools to manage, patch and update devices includes pushing updated software using similar tools. Coordinate patch management schedules, user acceptance testing and roll-out plans. Participate in Resolve security vulnerabilities on university equipment. Create and monitor SCCM web reports and sharing with executive teams. Collaborate with ISO/OPSec to identify vulnerabilities and threats and assist in creating short-term and long-term mitigation plans. New Technologies & Clients Technology Projects Researches, evaluates, tests new technologies, hardware and software for the university community. Makes recommendations based upon the findings. Coordinate, and assist with special projects. Participate in establishing and maintaining a strategically sound departmental compliance program to ensure that information assets are adequately protected, insuring consistency with regulatory and compliance requirements that govern cyber security for the department. This includes, but is not limited to HIPAA, PCI, and CJIS data. Consultation & Advance Support assist in training campus technical staff, mentoring junior analysts and student workers Interacts with end-users to provide professional consultation. Provide on-site training in use of software management tools when needed. Serves as liaison between OIT, ISO, clients, executives and other IT professionals on campus. Provide professional support to clients, executives within university entities, including resolving software, hardware, security and network issues. Works with vendors to resolve Tier 2-3 issues. Other Duties – Performs other duties assigned including: Assist in hiring, training, and mentoring technical staff, Jr. Analyst and student staffing. Create and update online documentation for standards, services, processes and procedures and complex technical issues.
Bachelor’s degree. Six to eight (6-8) years of hands-on computing work experience; or the equivalent experience. Familiar with management tools used to create images and ability to create software packages. Experience with Microsoft Office 365, VMware, Adobe Suite, VPN clients, Anti-Virus and Cloud applications. Experience with managing small scale projects. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs advance to expert tasks daily. Must have the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues, with perseverance to oversee projects from beginning to end, ensuring high quality, efficiency and reliability in the solutions offered. A certain degree of creativity and latitude is expected. Obtain certifications as required by manager.
Six to eight years of hands-on experience in support of PC and Mac hardware, software, and latest up-to-date OS. Experience with managing small scale projects and project roll-out plans. Work experience in repairing PCs, Macs, Printers, and network connection issues. Hands-on experience using management tools to keep devices imaged, patched and up-to-date to minimize security risks. Have excellent customer service, communication, and phone skills. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with customers and colleagues. Knowledge and experience on UTA processes and tools a plus. Ability to communicate technical information to non-technical personnel.
