The Research Software Developer II shall be responsible for:
Supporting rare disease genomics researchers by developing, maintaining, and extending software used for analyzing and managing genomic data.
Implementing security updates and server maintenance.
Specifying, designing, developing, coding, testing and implementing software that supports the needs of multiple projects considering the individual goals and objectives of each entity.
Implementing new features in existing open source software.
Developing new software from prototype algorithms.
Working with a range of collaborators across the institution.
In order to qualify you must have:
A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics or equivalent
One year running large scale, distributed computations in either HPC, cluster, or cloud environment
At least one year maintaining Linux servers or other Linux environments
At least one year developing and deploying Python and/or Java web applications
Experience meeting complex user requirements with little technical supervision
The following experience will be helpful:
Development or administration work with at least one of the following technologies: PostgreSQL, Elasticsearch, Redis, MongoDB
Exposure to concepts in genomics or bioinformatics
