Carleton College is seeking an entry to mid-level Systems Administrator in its Information Technology Services (ITS) department to help maintain about 180 Windows and Linux servers and associate virtualization and storage infrastructure. This position will take the lead on one or more systems, such as desktop virtualization, cloud services, Group Policy, SQL, or CBORD/CS Gold/Micros point of sale and door-access systems.
The Systems Administrator will manage the Carleton print environment, primarily with PaperCut, support faculty research infrastructure, and assist with storage administration and management. They will also work closely with others in ITS to ensure effective systems maintenance and data security.
This is a full-time (1.0 FTE) exempt, benefits-eligible staff position.

The successful candidate possesses a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field plus two years of full-time experience or six years of equivalent experience. Must have basic understanding of enterprise storage; at least two of NFSv3/v4, major SAN and NAS systems, VMWare VMFS, Windows RAID and logical disk management. Preferred qualifications include prior work experience in higher education, familiarity with PaperCut, and experience managing a production installation of a hypervisor such as ESX, Xen, HyperV, or KVM.
