The Pharmacy Services Department is seeking an experienced business professional to support the Pharmacy Department. This position reports to the Finance Senior Manager of Pharmacy Administration. This position will be instrumental in developing processes, financial reporting, and creating controls around a growing field in Pharmacy and Finance.

-Create workflows tailored to each high cost drug and/or administrative area. These workflows will ensure appropriate controls to monitor financial activity and mitigate losses
-Monitor activity in the high cost drug arena, develop and maintain reports as needed.
-Monitor the process of authorization to procurement to administration for each high cost drug. Including tracking of all patients in the queue by high cost drug.
-Interact with CDAs, Segment Leadership, or designated department leads to develop processes and stay up to date on patient population and new drugs on the horizon.
-This position will serve as a member of Pharmacy’s High Cost Drug Committee which reports to Michigan Medicine P&T Committee.
-Communicate activity and financial statuses to appropriate areas throughout Michigan Medicine & Pharmacy Leadership.
-Monitor all high cost drug charges and work queues to ensure appropriate charges drop; managing cost updates within all pharmacy systems, as patient charges are based on the drug costs loaded into our systems.
-Scheduled and ad hoc reports for drug level analysis of medication purchases.
-Create purchase orders when appropriate and monitor by patient accounts payable.
-Create and monitor margin by drug by insurer analysis along with tracking payments vs expected reimbursement. Develop and implement PDCA process if needed change in contracting, charge drop or billing change is required to receive projected reimbursement.
-Other analysis and duties as assigned by the Finance Manager and/or the Director of Business Operations for the Pharmacy Department.
Additional Skills & Abilities
-Ability to communicate clearly, both verbal and written, to internal and external constituents and apply a high degree of analytical, interpretive and evaluative skills dealing with complex concepts, projects, etc.
-Solid knowledge, understanding, and experience in business, finance or accounting.
-Must be self-motivated with an ability to work well with teams.
-Must have effective organizational skills and flexibility to meet deadlines.
-Strong problem solving abilities, attention to detail, and ability to multitask.
-Experience with analyzing and reporting data in order to identify issues, trends, or exceptions to drive improvement of results and find solutions.
-Strong presentation, analytical techniques, and computer skills, including proficiency with MS Office.
-Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
-5 years of experience in finance, accounting, audit and/or compliance, preferably in a University or Health Care environment.
-Experience with spreadsheet applications and analyzing and reporting data in order to identify issues, trends, or exceptions to drive improvement of results and find solutions.
-Business, Accounting or Finance degree is preferred.
-Experience working within Pharmacy is desirable, but not required.
-Experience with Mpathways, Hyperion and Business Objects financial software systems.
This position may be filled at the Financial Analyst Intermediate level, depending on the candidate's job qualifications.
