Semester Research Analyst: Georgetown University Center for Security and Emerging Technology

The Center for Security and Emerging Technology (CSET) is seeking applications for Semester Research Analyst positions. We are a research organization focused on studying the security impacts of emerging technologies, supporting academic work in security and technology studies, and delivering nonpartisan analysis to technologists and policymakers. The Center is currently focusing on artificial intelligence and advanced computing. Semester Research Analysts will gain valuable research skills by creating science policy products in collaboration with the CSET team.
Semester Research Analysts would join the Center for the semester and report to a CSET Research Fellow. These term researchers will be responsible for:
Conducting research on national security and technology policy in collaboration with Research Fellows, Research Analysts, Data Scientists, and Center leadership;
Contributing to and coauthoring written publications based on research projects, under the mentorship of Research Fellows;
Supporting research tasks like literature reviews, research interviews, and data analysis;
Attending virtual briefings and relevant events and providing summaries to Research staff and;
Monitoring and offering insights on trends and developments in AI, Machine Learning, and national security policy.
Strong interest in emerging technology and national security;
Pursuing a bachelor's degree or graduate degree;
Eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship;
Ability to carry out tasks with limited need for supervision;
Proficiency with office productivity tools like Google Docs and Sheets, Microsoft Word and Excel, etc.;
Excellent communication, collaboration, and critical thinking skills.
Additionally, experience or classwork in related areas (such as national security, international relations, public policy, statistics, etc.) or foreign language proficiency is a plus.
