We are seeking a Business Development Director who will be responsible for the leadership and management of WMFDP’s sales and business development team in a way that reflects the vision, values, and goals of the company. Working with a dedicated team of diversity, equity, and inclusion experts and, other internal support staff, this leader will be expected to create long-term client relationships with Fortune 1000 companies and government agencies. As a member of the management team, this role will also serve as a strategic leader, working cross-functionally and collaboratively with a focus on overall process improvement, service innovation, and stewardship of the culture, mission, and goals within the firm.

At WMFDP, our business development team is the important first touchpoint for our clients as they engage in our partnership-focused approach and transformative services. This team is key to maintaining and deepening our relationships with existing clients. The ideal candidate will have in-depth experience with the sales and business development process in a professional services organization selling to Fortune 500 companies. We prefer a candidate with diversity, equity, and inclusion experience.

The ideal candidate will also be an organized project manager who can develop their own team while also working in a matrix organization. We’re seeking a quick learner with a track record of success who can inspire the same in others. 

This position is based in Portland, Oregon, and reports to the Vice President of Operations. Remote work, for an outstanding candidate, is possible with frequent trips to the home office. Able to travel approximately 20% of the time, post-COVID is required. 

Overall Objectives of this Role

• Develop a predictable revenue stream for WMFDP, LLC
• Sustain and evolve an effective sales process from qualified prospect to long term client
• Help drive our thought leadership position and represent our company with a comprehensive understanding of our approach, our offerings, and our impact
• Instill an inquiry-based approach to understanding client needs and how our solutions further their goals
• Hire, train, and motivate a team of sales and account managers (Client Advisers), ensuring that the team is using effective and consistent sales and partnership techniques
• Achieve company objectives through effective planning, setting sales goals, analyzing performance data, and projecting future performance

Additional Responsibilities

• Establish and deepen client relationship
• Create and execute a strategic sales plan that expands our ideal customer base and extends global reach
• Track, analyze, and communicate key quantitative and qualitative metrics and business trends including a monthly, quarterly, and annual sales forecast by program and key client
• Recruit, train, coach, and monitor performance goals are met 
• Identify knowledge gaps within the team and develop a plan to fulfill them
• Understand and negotiate sales contracts and master service agreements with Fortune 1000 companies
• Navigate multiple layers of stakeholders, purchase influencers and decision-makers
• Select, develop and manage the Client Advisor team (select consultants who partner with sales to ensure impact and long-term client satisfaction)
• Oversee ideal client account strategic planning process and client life-cycle management
• Develop strategies to maximize the rate of conversion from qualified leads to ICR (ideal client relationship) by using data and best practices to improve product and service development, pricing strategy, client loyalty, and the brand experience.
• Oversee the proposal development process with a focus on WMFDP solutions that meet client’s needs
• Identify and manage the effort to create streamlined internal systems and communications within BD and to work collaboratively with other functions
