| SUMMARY: Rowan University seeks an experienced programmer analyst in our Clinical Systems division of Information Resources and Technology (IRT). This position will be crucial to assist in the current and future success of the Rowan School of Osteopathic Medicines and its successful participation in population health and Accredited Care Organizations (ACO). Additionally, this position will be instrumental in assisting reporting for insurance provider metrics (PCMH) and government programs such as MIP’s. Responsible for the successful development and maintenance of HL7 interfaces between Rowan’s Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and Practice Management systems as well as its ancillary clinical and financial systems. Responsible to build and maintain Rowan School of Osteopathic Medicine’s suite of interfaces with other systems. This will include writing the extract scripts in SQL, working with other team members across IRT to create and monitor the infrastructure processes that produce the feeds, and working with internal and external customers to identify and resolve issues. The analyst must have experience and knowledge of extraction and integration of data from an EMR and other clinical applications JOB DUTIES: Responsible for the successful development and maintenance of HL7 interfaces between Rowan’s Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and Practice Management (PM) systems as well as its ancillary clinical and financial systems. The analyst must have experience and knowledge of extraction and integration of data from an EMR and other clinical applications. - Work collaboratively with architecture team to ensure that the proposed integration solutions are aligned with enterprise architecture direction
- Lead, evaluate and provide technical interface expertise to clinical technology team
- Experience with interfacing between different systems
- Experience working with different data formats (e.g., HL7, X12, EDI, FHIR, XML, CDA, CSV, etc.)
- Solid working understanding of HL7 language
- Knowledge of basic networking and different connectivity solutions (e.g., VPN, SFTP, TCP-IP, etc.)
- Ability to carry out systematic problem identification, analysis, and resolution
- Designs, Develops, and documents technical interface specifications
- Participates in and/or lead interface code reviews
- Documents pre/post code interface changes
- Create and maintain interfaces with ACO partners and provider sites
- Responsible to interpret document and modify existing interfaces
- Responsible to build new interfaces that tie together all applicable clinical and financial systems managed/used by Clinical IRT and its customers
- Review interfaces and make recommendations for optimization of interfaces
- Specific duties may include but are not limited to:
- Build and maintain SQL stored procedures
- Keep up with regulatory changes in C-EMR and Enli that impact interface transactions
- Troubleshoot and resolve interface issues
- Maintain and update interface transaction security
- Build integration to send email from Clinical systems
- Periodically check and benchmark interface performance
- Other interface changes to support business need
- Keeps abreast of all federal, state and Rowan regulations, laws and policies as they presently exist and as they change or are modified including integration with the applicable regulatory agencies.
REQUIRED EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE: - Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, or Math
- Two plus (2+) years of experience in designing and implementing standard data exchange including HL7 and/or EDI in a healthcare setting
- Working knowledge and experience with MS-SQL
PREFERRED EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE: - Five plus (5+) years of IT experience in a Healthcare environment, with three plus (3+) years in interface design and implementation
- Knowledge of healthcare data and requirements on both an internal local level and how it integrates with clinical data/database’s from outside entities
- Knowledge of interface engines including but not limited to Infor/Cloverleaf and Qvera
