Organization and Employee Development (OED) Specialist - (2100004Y) The Office of Human Resource Services, Organization and Employee Development (OED) at the University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB) is currently recruiting for OED Specialist candidates to join a dynamic team. The successful candidate will design, develop, deliver and evaluate training programs to support the University's strategic plan and operational objectives. This position will facilitate and present programs and initiatives to enhance the learning capabilities and effectiveness of the organization. Primary Duties: - Design, develop, and facilitate training programs that enhance the competencies of employees at all levels to align with the strategic efforts of the organization.
- Design, plan, organize, schedule, facilitate, and present training programs for essential skill building, performance management, new employee orientation and onboarding, leadership development, and technology/learning integration.
- Develop and prepare training materials including presentations, instructor guides, participant guides, job aids, and learning activities based on adult learning principles.
- Assess, analyze, and select appropriate training methodologies using traditional or alternative methods, techniques, and formats including a variety of eLearning and blended learning formats including web based, online, and video.
- Assess areas in need of performance management and organizational programs, and design/deliver solutions that will address organizational needs.
- Consult with campus leadership, managers, and supervisors regarding departmental competencies and provide coaching/consulting on career, skill, and performance issues, change management, and process improvement.
- Assists in conducting organizational assessment, diagnosis, consulting/coaching, and action plans to address issues specific to meet individual, departmental, and divisional needs consistent with Human Resource planning and organizational strategic efforts supporting the University's strategic plan.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- Experience with eLearning, blended learning, web based, and online training methodologies is preferred.
Qualifications Education: Bachelor's degree in field and/or related field (Master's degree and additional certification preferred and can be used to substitute for relevant experience. Experience: Two (2) years spent progressively building a background in organization development, change management, or training. May consider a combination of directly related experience and education. The candidate will be expected to have some or all of the following knowledge, skills and abilities: - Understanding of organizational models, change management theories, group dynamics and intervention strategies.
- Knowledge of adult learning principles; skills in training program design and development, including experiential learning methods. Ability to select appropriate tools to meet learning goals.
- Creatively applies available technology in the design of instructional materials.
- Ability to establish goals, structures, and processes necessary to implement a mission and strategic vision, with an emphasis on service to employees and the campus.
- Strategic and analytical thinking skills with an ability to solve problems and make decisions. Skill in optimizing information management to meet department and campus reporting requirements.
- Ability to network and interact, as well as support effective partnerships with key groups and individuals.
- Ability to prioritize ongoing and new projects, as well as conduct research and gather information.
- Proven success effecting change in a complex organization.
- Ability to effectively interact and consult with clients across all functions/business units.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills including presentation skills and strong interpersonal skills.
