The Risk and Finance Data Services is a function within the DSS CIO Organization and is responsible for delivering data consistently across Risk, Finance, Compliance, and Chief Operating Office.

This Software Engineer will report to the Engineering Sr Manager responsible for Compliance Data Solutions and Services Technology and is responsible for sourcing Product, Transactional and Master/Reference Data from the Approved Provisioning Points to Risk & Finance Foundational Platform; and enabling consumption of that data as data services across consumers.  This technology role requires strong big-data technology and domain expertise in the Risk & Finance data. 

Position Responsibilities and Expected Outcomes:

• Act in the technical role an individual contributor and help design solutions for complex computer applications and/or applications initiatives
• Utilize a thorough understanding of available technology, tools, and existing designs.
• Work on complex problems where analysis of situations or data requires evaluation of intangible variance factors.
• Plan, perform, and act as the escalation point for complex platform designs, coding, and testing.
• Lead complex multiple modeling, simulations, and analysis efforts
• Act as expert technical resources to programming staff in the program development, testing, and implementation process.
• Design data services that deliver Strategic Enterprise Risk Management data.
• Design high performing data models on big-data architecture as data services
• Design and build high performing and scalable data pipeline platform using Hadoop, Apache Spark and Amazon S3 based object storage architecture
• Design and build the data services on container-based architecture such as Kubernetes and Docker
• Work with business analysts, development teams and project managers for business requirements
• Collaborate with source system and approved provisioning point (APP) teams, Architects, Dara Analysts and Modelers to build scalable and performant data solutions
• Effectively work in a hybrid environment where legacy ETL and Data Warehouse applications and new big-data applications co-exist
• Support ongoing data management efforts for Development, QA, and Production environments.
• Leverage knowledge of industry trends to build best in class technology to provide competitive advantage.
• Act as an expert technical resource to programming staff int he program development, testing, and implementation process.

• 5+ years of software engineering experience
• 10+ years of experience in data management, data modeling, metadata management, master-data management and data movement
• 5+ years of ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) Programming experience
• 5+ years of experience delivering complex enterprise wide information technology solutions
• 3+ years of Hadoop experience
• 3+ years of experience in Hadoop ecosystem tools for real-time batch data ingestion, processing and provisioning such as Apache Flume, Apache Kafka, Apache Sqoop, Apache Flink, Apache Spark or Apache Storm
• A BS/BA degree or higher

• An industry-standard technology certification
• Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
• 5+ years of finance experience
• Knowledge and understanding of Hadoop
• Experience Hadoop ecosystem tools relevant for real-time and batch data ingestion, processing and provisioning using tools such as Apache Flume, Apache Kafka, Apache Sqoop, Apache Flink, Apache Hive or Apache Storm
• Knowledge and understanding of relational databases: SQL
• Knowledge and understanding of database querying and creating ad hoc reporting results using SQL or similar querying methods
• Ability to quickly learn business operations and processes
• Ability to take initiative, identify opportunities and implement change
• Ability to lead during times of ambiguity and change
• Ability to partner as a team member resource
• Ability to communicate effectively with business partners and project managers
• Ability to manage multiple and competing priorities
• A BS/BA degree or higher in science or technology
