Wells Capital Management is seeking a candidate for a Portfolio Analyst Fixed Income 2 role to join the successful and growing Montgomery Fixed Income Team.  This role within our credit team will support our small group of analysts, portfolio managers and traders. It will involve conducting industry and company research, building and/or maintaining models, supporting our team in special projects and ultimately assuming sector coverage over time within our investment grade universe.  Analysts on this team perform all aspects of credit research including analyzing historical financial statements, assessing ESG risk and opportunity, preparing financial projections and performing qualitative and quantitative analysis. Emphasis will also be placed on analyzing credit spreads and relative value in a risk weighted context, with the goal of supporting and developing actionable alpha-generating trade ideas. Communicating effectively with analysts, traders and portfolio managers is essential.

Position responsibilities include:

• Conducting primary and secondary market credit research utilizing fundamental credit analysis in a variety of subsectors
• Surveillance of existing security holdings and monitoring of general credit trends
• Contributing to the integration of ESG analysis in our qualitative and quantitative processes
• Ongoing discussions with portfolio managers and analysts regarding the potential purchase and sale of securities, with an emphasis on the underlying credit fundamentals of issuers
• Documentation of credit analysis and rating changes by the major credit rating agencies
• Identification of relative value opportunities amongst credits and sectors
• Performing ad-hoc projects/analysis as required

Locations: The preferred office location is Walnut Creek, CA. Other locations within the Wells Fargo footprint may be considered 

Salary offered dependent on location.  May be considered for a discretionary bonus.

• 3+ years of investment research experience
