Your Team
The BlackRock EMEA Portfolio Analysis and Solutions (BPAS) team is part of BlackRock's global Portfolio Consulting group which partner with clients across geographies to help achieve their portfolio outcomes using BlackRock alpha-seeking, factor and indexed products (under the iShares brand). BPAS EMEA is unique as it covers all product and client types across the industry.
Your role and impact
Seeking an enthusiastic and quantitively minded software developer, the team is looking for an experienced Associate to join the BPAS Technology Team in London. The ideal candidate will work closely with the business to build highly efficient, sophisticated business applications. These must be crafted in a modular fashion for deployment in multiple environments. Although predominantly a Python role, they will also have demonstrable ability to work across technologies focusing on the best tool for the job.
Situated in a fast-paced environment, this role will give significant exposure to BlackRock's client businesses as well as a fantastic platform to learn about portfolio analytics and construction techniques.
Your responsibilities - Drive Python within the team's tech stack by re-engineering existing models and building out greenfield applications in Python.
- Takes time to coach, mentor and develop colleagues
- Formalise the build, release, and deployment process of Python applications.
- Handle workload of squad and assist other team members when required.
- Provide meaningful contribution to strategy, planning and be able to independently drive and deliver execution phases of strategic projects within the team.
You should have... - A solid grasp of Python, ideally in a financial environment.
- Experience delivering Python-based applications
- Ability to code in an object-oriented manner.
- Experience of unit and end-to-end testing of Python.
- Eager to use and learn different technologies
- Knowledge of SQL
It would be great if you have... - Good technical writing skills and ability to communicate, verbally and in writing, analytical concepts to a variety of audiences
- Good attention to detail; willing to take action attitude; and willingness to roll up sleeves
- Strong interest in working with financial data platforms like Aladdin, MPI, Bloomberg, Morningstar, FactSet.
- Outstanding social skills, self-starter and ability to perform under stress and handle tight deadlines in a fast-paced, high-intensity environment
