Requirements Senior Systems Engineer - University Information Services The Senior Systems Engineer is responsible for management, planning, and operations of Windows, Linux and UNIX servers in University Information Services, with a primary responsibility is working with engineering and operations staff to design new systems and with end users to analyze and document requirements. They have accountability for the security, availability and performance of these systems, and perform software installation and ongoing maintenance and improvements to include patching. The Senior Systems Engineer also spends some time on researching new technologies and assess their applicability to Georgetown's needs, and works independently with staff from the applications, help desk, operations center and other UIS teams for hardware and software related issues. Reporting to the Director of Infrastructure, the Senior Systems Engineer also receives periodic direction from UIS management to identify new projects. They work independently to design, develop and implement new systems in coordination with other teams and using the approved developed processes. Interacting primarily with technical staff within UIS, they also establish and maintain regular contact with peers at other institutions, in duties that include but are not limited to: Server Administration
