The Software Engineer acts in a lead technical role providing technical guidance and consultation with application teams, clients, and Engineering Managers for their technology domain environments including but not limited to cloud, middleware, operating systems, applications, Software-as-a-Service, and Platform-as-a-Service products. Design, code, test, debug and document programs using Agile development practices. Provides the strategy and design for projects associated with their technology domain including, upgrades and deployments. Utilizes advanced technologies and methods to integrate their technology domain with other technology domains, enabling the creation of new or expanded heterogeneous environments. Develops new documentation and departmental technical procedures. Directs the gathering of performance statistics to assist in determining hardware and communication tools needed to support projected transaction volumes, response time and system availability targets. As an escalation point, provides guidance and direction to less experienced staff in resolution of highly complex technical problems. Leads projects and manages the work of less experienced staff. Assures quality, Wells Fargo Technology implements IT strategy; enhances the design, development, and operations of our systems; drives to and leverages an optimized Wells Fargo infrastructure footprint; provides information security; and enables the smooth servicing of Wells Fargo customers. The Wealth technology team implements and maintains Investment Risk, Strategy and Trading applications for front and back office personnel to manage risk, and strategy and trade orders generation on high net worth and ultra-high net worth client portfolios. The team manages approximately 25 Investment applications, both vendor and internally built. The position is for an Software Engineer to develop and provide application support to internal applications and integration support to vendor built applications. The role requires technical knowledge of Object Oriented programming, ETL and demonstrated skills in creation and maintenance of data models for Wealth Investment applications. The primary responsibility will be development and support of Oracle and/or SQL Server databases. Project work requires the ability to execute well across the entire development lifecycle and within each of the application layers: presentation, business logic, and data. This position participates in all stages of the application development lifecycle and will work on Agile teams to provide application design, development, testing and production support utilizing a thorough understanding of applicable technology, tools and existing designs.
This position can be based at the Wells Fargo site location in Glen Allen, VA or Charlotte, NC. This position is NOT ELIGIBLE for relocation assistance. Prospective candidates should reside in and/or around the target site locations or be able to commute to either of these site for employment.
