Palo Alto Veterans Institute for Research (PAVIR) is seeking a full-time Contract and Grant Post-Award Analyst to manage post-award activities on grants and contracts while providing exceptional customer service to assigned Principal Investigators and their research laboratories.

ABOUT THIS ROLE:
The focus in this position is mainly on grants administration, rather than contracts. While telecommuting, you will be a part of a close-knit, knowledgeable, and supportive Contract and Grant team. You will receive training and guidance from the assigned Contract and Grant Manager. This a limited-term 1-year position, with a possibility of extension. PAVIR reserves the right not to extend this position after the end of the 1-year term.

A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A CONTRACT AND GRANT POST-AWARD ANALYST:
If you have 2+ years of related post-award experience in a professional research environment, you will independently provide comprehensive post-award services to Principal Investigators (PIs) and maintain internal post-award processes, including accurate qualitative and financial data input and data maintenance.
If you are a beginner, the assigned Contract and Grant Manager will offer the necessary guidance, as you manage post-award activities on low complexity sponsored projects, such as federal grants, foundation grants, and simple industry sponsored agreements.

Palo Alto Veterans Institute for Research (PAVIR) facilitates research and education activities conducted at the VA Palo Alto Health Care System (VAPAHCS). As a Contract and Grant Post-Award Analyst, you are essential to the important work we do at PAVIR. Below are some of your main responsibilities:
Perform timely and compliant post-award administration:
Review monthly PI statements and set up new budgets
Monitor effort certification, as well as spending, and prepare projections identifying any areas needing update
Review and approve requisitions/purchase orders and personnel requests, assuring availability of funds and appropriateness of expenditures in accordance with sponsor, PAVIR and VA policies and regulations.
Prepare timely submission of scientific and financial progress reports to sponsors
Interpret sponsor requirements and incorporate with understanding of VA and PAVIR policies
Perform timely account maintenance duties including budget and or other data entries, file maintenance, and account closeout.
Communicate with internal and externalparties:
Communicate status updates and workflow needs intra- and inter-departmentally
Communicate with PIs monthly or more frequently, if needed, to review PI portfolio including monthly expenses, projections, effort, reporting requirements
Liaise between PI and sponsor or subrecipients to obtain needed approvals
Issue, monitor, and amend subagreements and personnel agreements.
A bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
At least 1 year of experience in an academic or research office setting
Experience providing customer service and interacting with individuals at all levels
Knowledge in areas of Post-Award Grants Management
Ability to create, review and interpret basic financial project reports
Ability to effectively balance customer service with regulatory compliance
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities and ability to know when to ask for help when prioritizing in a deadline-driven environment
Must be proactive and flexible and must have good judgment and decision-making skills
Ability to learn spreadsheet and database software in financial analysis, fiscal management, and financial reports
Ability to communicate and work effectively and collegially in a team environment
Demonstrated commitment to excellence in customer service and performance.
2 or more years of related post-award experience
Knowledge of sponsored project related compliance including knowledge of federal regulations, such as Uniform Guidance and NIH grants policy statement
Federal and non-federal grants administration knowledge
Experience submitting proposals to diverse external funding sources
Experience creating, reviewing, and interpreting financial project reports of moderate scope and complexity.
