Primary Purpose:

Monitor and maintain profitability through rate indications, pricing reviews, and the filing/implementation of rate changes and new products.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop pricing projections by performing analyses which require retrieving and analyzing appropriate data
  • Perform deep dive reviews that require analysis of trends, factors, and other data-related issues to answer specific business questions
  • Analyze and propose changes to existing rating plans and products
  • Analyze impacts and benefits of new products and rating characteristics
  • Provide documentation and support for rate filings and statutory reporting
  • Communicate and collaborate with business partners in other functional areas, including product, finance, accounting, claims, IT, and senior management

Minimum Skills and Competencies:

  • Bachelor Degree or in-lieu of degree equivalent education, training and work-related experience
  • 2+ years of actuarial/pricing experience
  • 2+ CAS Exams Passed
  • Strong computer skills with high proficiency in managing data in Excel and Access
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, and project skills
  • Ability to project results, deal with ambiguity, solve problems, make decisions, see trends/patterns within data sets, and identify root causes
  • Must be able to work independently as well as in a team environment
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)

 

Desired Skills:

  • Bachelor or advanced degree in insurance, actuarial science, engineering, mathematics, statistics, risk management, economics, business administration or related analytics-oriented discipline
  • Experience with multiple programming languages including SAS, SQL, VBA, R, and Python
