The overall mission of Tanner Tees is to support, enhance, and celebrate every baseball and softball player’s journey. The Product Developer/Engineer ties into this mission by developing new products related to baseball and softball through research, design, modeling, and prototyping. You will work with suppliers to bring the products into existence. Focusing on the quality and longevity of Tanner Tees products and their components will be a key factor for this role. You will be expected to create functional quality tests and, based on those results, recommend component redesign.
Outcomes
New Product Development
Propose and develop at least two new products annually.
Vet potential new suppliers as needed.
Coordinate with suppliers (new and existing) to achieve appropriate cost/profit margins.
Determine if the new product requires special regulatory or consumer testing/approval (i.e. Prop 65, Consumer Product Safety Commission & General Certificate of Conformity, etc.)
Improve Quality of Current Products
Create test harnesses/mechanisms for various products & their components – 1 per month until existing products are covered with repeatable, measurable tests.
Propose and develop component updates based on quality test results.
Within 2 days of arrival at Tanner Tees, test incoming materials to ensure they meet our specifications and requirements.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering and/or Manufacturing Engineering
CAD software/prototyping/modeling expertise
Consumer product development experience
Track record of product improvements (quality & cost)
Materials information/background/knowledge
QA/test harness development
Nice to Have Experience:
Athlete/sports background & training tool use
International market experience
Safety/regulatory (consumer) knowledge
Sourcing experience
