Under moderate supervision, the ITTA Programmer II will conduct intermediate programming using SQL in a Unix and Windows environment. The programming will include intermediate retrieval programs for application-specific purposes (sub-system feeds, system integration) and reporting for production ITS internal and external purposes, program documentation and end-user instructions will also be created. Intermediate knowledge of Unix shell scripting and commands, and database navigation skills are required to help fulfill duties in this role.
Individuals in this position must demonstrate application developer skills using TOAD and basic Oracle Forms knowledge, use secure FTP, understand desktop navigation, use common desktop applications (Excel, Word, Access, ...), use Telnet for connecting to remote servers, and use Remote Desktop when necessary. Additionally, at the Programmer II level, CougarNet support is introduced as well as the development Argos skills. Program compilations in MicroFocus Cobol and C are also part of the required toolset for completion of duties in this role.
Further duties and responsibilities may be assigned to the Programmer II based on the needs and goals of the department and university.

Minimum Acceptable Qualifications:
Any combination totaling four (4) years from the following categories: (a) Progressively more responsible work experience in IT-related profession. (b) College course work in Information Technology (IT), IT Management, or a closely related discipline, as measured by the following conversion table or its proportional equivalent: - 60 semester hours or Associate’s Degree equals one year. - 90-120 semester hours or Bachelor’s Degree equals two years.

- Specific coursework/experience in relational database programming (SQL and PL/SQL) and analysis, with exposure to HTML, CSS, Java, Java scripting, XML, C, data architecture and database relational design; - Two (2) years of experience with any of the following operating systems: Unix, Linux, Windows Server; - Ability to communicate effectively with technical team members; - Certification as an Oracle Developer is a plus; - Must be able to work and contribute in a collaborative team environment; - Self-motivated and flexible in accepting duties and direction; - Demonstrated ability to apply technical programmatic solutions with moderate supervision.
