United Power is recruiting for a Financial Analyst II to join our Finance team in Brighton, Colorado. The ideal candidate has experience with the following:
financial statement and budget preparation
identifying financial trends and interpreting financial data
creating and presenting Power Point presentations
This position is currently eligible for virtual or hybrid work in accordance with the guidelines set by the State and County during the pandemic, however residence in Colorado is required. United Power will be evaluating the long-term plans for these arrangements when the COVID restrictions are lifted.
Position Purpose and Objectives:
The Financial Analyst II conducts advanced quantitative analyses of information affecting budgets, expenses, forecasting and other financial projects with limited supervision.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
Collects and analyzes financial information for organization and/or departments in order to track the organization's progress against its financial goals. Develops financial models and analyses to support strategic initiatives. (60%)
Analyzes current and past trends in key performance indicators including all areas of revenue, cost of sales, expenses and capital expenditures. Identifies causes of unexpected variance. (10%)
Reports current or expected financial performance and creates financial models to provide management with decision-making tools. (10%)
Collaborates with departments to develop annual budgets. (10%)
Develops ad-hoc analysis reports. Supports management team and department heads with in-depth analysis. Prepares presentations for management and Board of Director meetings. (10%)
Performs other duties as may be requested or assigned to meet the needs of United Power in the interest of good management practices.
Creates, expands, and maintains professional and productive working relationships with peers and stakeholders. Works collaboratively with colleagues and fosters a spirit of cooperation in the workplace
Supervision Received and Exercised:
Level II - Receives general guidance from manager. May coach and mentor Financial Analyst I and administrative staff.
Education, Training and Experience:
Level II - Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Business or a related field plus five years finance and forecasting experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Desired Experience: Master’s degree.

Works on assignments that are moderately complex, where judgment and analysis are required to resolve problems and make recommendations. Level II refers more complex issues to higher-level staff.

Errors in judgment or failure to achieve results would normally require a significant amount of time and effort to fix.
Majority of the time will be spent interacting with internal contacts, on specific tasks may work with external contacts.
Essential Physical & Mental Requirements:
Achieves and maintains working knowledge of all business functions, processes and systems, and working understanding of all aspects of the United Power technology environment.
Develops and delivers Security Awareness Program in conjunction with IT Director and Manager of User Technology Services and Experience.
Develops a consistent technical writing format for all IT documentation – user and departmental documentation.
Work is subject to regular and hours, with the exception of tight deadlines where irregular hours may be required.
This job is performed inside an office building at normal temperature ranges one hundred percent (100%) of the time. Noise level is 50-60 decibels (normal conversation) for a couple of hours per day.
