The Senior Data Analyst reports to the Director of Advancement Information Services. H/she shares responsibility with two other Senior Data Analysts for the technical support, management and enhancement of University Advancement's Ellucian Advance Web (Advance) database. The incumbent will work closely with ITS' Advance Database Administrator and the Ellucian vendor on patches and troubleshooting, and will assist as needed with existing and future apps such as Anthology, Scalefunder and RNL Engage. The position will also be very involved in data systems upgrades or conversions.
The Data & Analytics team will collectively analyze, design and develop custom web forms, sophisticated fundraising projection, trend and performance reports and create targeted solicitation segments. Using predictive modeling, and working with Prospect Management and Research colleagues, they will assist with data mining to identify the most capable and likely prospects to maintain fully populated relationship management rosters. They are also dedicated to maintaining the integrity of data within Advance and identifying errors in real time.
Typically a Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Communication or technical school with appropriate technical knowledge or equivalent experience. Incumbent will be expected to continue upgrading knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to keep abreast of benefit regulation/policy changes.
Minimum 3 years previous experience. Demonstrated experience with SQL Programming Language, Oracle, Excel, lnfomaker, Crystal Reports, and Microsoft Suite and the demonstrated ability to design SQL queries, ad hoc reports, procedures and functions and Web forms. Experience with Tableau and Argos preferred.
Direct front-end and back-end knowledge and experience with relational databases highly preferred, particularly Ellucian Advance. Knowledge and understanding of relational data (biographic, gift, committee, prospect, etc.) required. Knowledge of Salesforce preferred.
Considerable skill and judgment in the collection, evaluation, and interpretation of data to develop sound conclusions and make appropriate recommendations.
Working accurately with data and systems is crucial. Perform quality checks on each product produced before it is distributed. Perform regular reviews of all Ellucian Advance data to insure business and integrity rules are adhered to.
Understanding of the principles and practices of systems development; interpersonal skills to interact closely with users in identifying and preparing for special projects and programs; ability to complete complex projects using independent judgment; ability to troubleshoot problems quickly and effectively; demonstrated skill in analyzing situations quickly and accurately, and in devising and executing an effective course of action.
