Ohio Wesleyan University (www.owu.edu) is a selective, private, undergraduate liberal arts, residential institution founded in 1842 and is located just 20 miles north of Columbus. The Office of University Accounting invites applications for a Budget Analyst/Fiscal Accountant.
As OWU’s Budget Analyst/Fiscal accountant, you’ll gather, analyze, and interpret financial information to monitor and evaluate the University's financial performance. You’ll contribute to the work of the Senior Director for Financial Innovation, Planning, and Budgeting by assisting with the development of the budget and performing variance analysis, and you’ll help departments and programs use financial reports and track expenses.
You’ll work with the accounting staff and Controller to organize restricted fund accounting information, share it with departments, and help them use restricted funds most effectively. The Budget Analyst/Fiscal Accountant will also assist with accounts receivable, maintain budget data in our accounting system, perform data integrations, and contribute data for external surveys.
The position reports to the Senior Director for Financial Innovation, Planning, and Budgeting. This is a full-time position eligible for university benefits, including medical, dental, vision, and prescription coverage, tuition remission for dependents, 403(b) contributions by the university, life insurance, and more.
Minimum Required Qualifications:
3 years of professional experience relevant to the position, such as budget preparation, expense monitoring, and variance analysis.
Fluency with Excel formulas and functions.
Ability to work accurately and respect details.
Strong quantitative, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
Effective written communication skills.
Ability to prioritize work to meet deadlines.
Additional education in a relevant field, such as finance, accounting, data analytics, etc.
Familiarity with data query/ data management tools.
Experience with Microsoft Dynamics Great Plains and Management Reporter.
Experience with fund accounting and accounting for restricted gifts.
Effective interpersonal communication skills.
Effective oral communication skills.
