Actuarial student with significant knowledge of insurance and actuarial concepts. Able to independently compile and analyze insurance data; able to analyze and make recommendations for primary actuarial functions such as reserving, pricing and ratemaking with some oversight. The Senior Actuarial Analyst can work without close supervision on projects and may lead the work of others.
Major Areas of Accountability
Populate, revise, review, and create files, spreadsheets, and models used in reserving, pricing, and other actuarial projects. Perform mathematical calculations necessary to produce actuarial exhibits. Make preliminary recommendations based on analysis.
Pull, organize, and reconcile LWCC data used by LWCC Actuarial Department, consultants, auditors, reinsurers, and others as needed.
Complete ad hoc analyses independently, draw conclusions and make recommendations for both the Actuarial department and other areas throughout the company.
Prepare actuarial and management reports and exhibits.
Assist with various other actuarial functions as required.
Develop, modify and maintain queries and scripts in both SQL and R. Develop a thorough understanding of the LWCC database and the LWCC developed system for retrieving data from it.
Demonstrate commitment to passing actuarial exams, increasing understanding of insurance and actuarial concepts, as well as of LWCC and insurance industry.
Contribute to analytics initiatives and other projects, both within the Actuarial department and throughout the company
Mentor less-experienced actuarial staff.
Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics. Actuarial Science concentration preferred.
4 years’ experience and have passed 5 Actuarial Exams.
Strong computer skills including knowledge of Microsoft Office products preferably including Access
Strong analytical, problem solving, and communication skills
