The Research Charge Review Analyst is responsible for the detailed review of research related charges in Apex prior to billing. The individual's main task is to ensure that charges are accurately routed to either the Research Grant/Study fund or to the patient (Insurance) as standard of care charges. The Research Charge Review Analyst will make this determination as indicated in the Coverage Analysis for each study. The individual is responsible for gathering and securing all information needed for charge review in accordance with the specific guidelines, polices, procedures and compliance regulations. This includes the need to initiate communication with the study team members, Budget Analysts, other Research units, and billing agents.
The Research Charge Review Analyst demonstrates the ability to perform all aspects of the review process with quality. When finalizing the review, the Research Charge Review Analyst must adhere to the Coverage Analysis (CA) to ensure consistency with the review and maintain accuracy. The individual is also responsible for maintaining timely review of charges and must meet minimum productivity standards and quality expectations of their units. The Research Charge Review Analyst must attend and be engaged in unit and team meetings aimed at increasing knowledge. The individual will utilize Apex as well as other web-based tools. The individual will conform to all UCSF, Research Revenue Cycle, government and Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) policies and procedures.
