Fryeburg Academy’s Human Resources Manager is integral to the school’s employee experience and to ensuring that the Academy meets its ethical and legal obligations as an employer. This individual advises the Head of School and Budget and Finance Director on human resource matters; plans, organizes, and controls all HR activities, and is responsible for developing goals, objectives, and systems for the HR function.
Responsible for all aspects of employee onboarding; provide education on personnel policies and benefit offerings; enter all new employee data into myFryeburg, FA’s database; annually provide employee information to Maine Department of Education
Manage and administer benefit plans; reconcile and process invoices
Support the hiring and recruitment process; manage training requirements
Communicate HR information to employees as needed, and ensure adherence to school’s employment policies
Monitor and ensure compliance with federal and state laws; recommend human resource policies and procedures to leadership; update all human resource documents
Oversee preparation and processing of bi-weekly payroll
Prepare faculty and administrator contracts; maintain employee files and payroll database
Support the performance review process for all staff
Perform all necessary posting, reporting and audit requirements
Manage and monitor employee leave periods including Worker’s Compensation program, process claims, and oversee return to work process
Manage unemployment claims
Consults with leadership on employee relations matters
Responsible for exit process for all departures
Supports and advises departments on safety issues
Assist with accounting functions and other duties as assigned
Preparation, Knowledge, and Skills:
Relevant prior professional experience; HR management experience preferred
Proficiency in data entry, spreadsheets, payroll/HR software, Google Suite
Effective communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively while maintaining high professional standards
Adherence to confidentiality
Valid Department of Education Criminal History Record Check
