The Assistant Director of Alumni Affairs and Development Communications is charged with engaging two important RCC constituencies: RCC alumni and RCCF donors. The Assistant Director maintains alumni records, plans alumni events, develops and executes communications plans, and serves as the primary point of contact for all alumni who visit campus. The Assistant Director works closely with the Executive Director of Communications, Marketing & External Affairs and the Executive Director of Development to execute the RCCF's donor communications strategy, oversee text-to-give campaigns, manage RCCF events, and more. The Assistant Director is proficient in both maintaining and analyzing data, is comfortable serving as the primary database manager for the alumni and donor databases, has exceptional writing skills, and enjoys developing compelling collateral.
Reports to: Reports to the Executive Director of Communications, Marketing & External Affairs
Develops and executes comprehensive alumni communications strategy - including, but not limited to email blasts, mailers, social media (managing alumni groups), and text campaigns.
Plans and manages campus-based alumni events, such as homecoming.
Connects with RCC Alumni Association to:
Ensure alumni association goals, events and initiatives are aligned with College priorities
Assist, on an as-needed basis, with alumni association events, activities and initiatives.
Partners with Career Services and Enrollment to foster connections between alumni, students, and prospective students.
Oversees alumni engagement in annual giving/fundraising.
Oversees alumni relations reporting, data, operations, and budgets.
Manages alumni and donor database - must have the ability to manage data, program reports, and segment lists
Develops and executes donor communications and marketing plans for:
Student Scholarship campaigns
Academic and Student Support campaigns
Develops and executes collateral for donor retention
Plans and manages donor events, with committee and contract support. .
Cross- Departmental Work:
Serves as knowledgeable institutional representative to better connect school with alumni and friends, answering questions, and engaging in rich conversations.
Forms strong working relationships with faculty and staff members who can assist with development and alumni relations goals.
Communicates and/or coordinates with colleagues on alumni relations and annual giving strategies
Five to eight years of professional alumni relations, development or communications experience, experience must be in higher education role.
Excellent time management and project management skills
Exceptional communications skills/the proven ability to communicate effectively with a diverse range of constituencies.
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (desktop and 365), Adobe Pro, Basecamp (or other project management tools), Constant Contact (or comparable email marketing tool) and Hootsuite.
Experience with DonorPerfect, Raiser's Edge, Salesforce or comparable CRM
Experience with the Greater Roxbury Community and RCC Alumni - Strong preference for candidates with life or work experience in RCC's immediate service area.
