The SQL Database Developer is responsible for developing and maintaining the research and program databases for the care management information system (CMIS), a multi-tenant system using SQL server as the database platform. The position will be responsible for automating the transfer and validation of data and loading the data into the CMIS database. Ensures confidentiality, availability, and integrity of data stored while delivering reports, datasets, and data marts to CCH internal and external partners. Collaborates with Health Research & Solution staff to support the implementation and monitoring of data quality controls.
This position is exempt from Career Service under the CCH Personnel Rules.
Designs, develops, and performs maintenance of CMIS' data warehouse including managing Extract Transform Load (ETL)/Data Warehousing (DW)/Business Intelligence (BI).
Executes data management activities including but not limited to processing feeds from internal and external vendors, instantiation of the knowledge base required for care management.
Implements and monitors data quality control measures (backups, disaster recovery, and Quality Assurance (QA) to guarantee integrity, availability, reliability, and accuracy of data.
Builds advanced SQL queries to execute rules to trigger the clinical workflow activities and complex care coordination activities.
Generates reports using SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) and Power BI.
Plans and conducts structured testing of database designs to confirm functionality and performance.
Automates the maintenance of data with T-SQL, stored procedures, jobs, scripts, and SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) packages.
Maximizes the performance of the databases by using proper techniques of indexing.
Participates in project meetings and makes recommendations on quality management issues.
Maintains the data system to include operation & provisioning of servers, inspection and maintenance of network hardware. Trouble-shooting network, hardware, and software problems, data transfer activities and appropriate back up of data; and installs, tests and implements database management systems and upgrades.
Develops, implements and maintains complex data models and logical database designs.
Documents the architecture and maintains data dictionaries for data marts.
Parses and processes Health Level Seven International (HL7) messages and FHIR messages.
Attends and participates in department and/or committee meetings.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university is required(Must provide official transcripts at time of interview)
Five (5) years of experience designing and building databases with at least one year of experience designing and building SQL databases is required
One (1) year of experience working within healthcare setting is required
Proficiency with the following: SQL queries, Microsoft SQL Server Administration, Automation of SQL server database jobs (SSRS & SSIS) & Power BI report generation is required
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or Computer Information Systems from an accredited college or university is preferred
Experience with Script Programming is preferred
Prior experience mapping the following vocabularies: SNOMED, LOINC, RxNORM is preferred
Prior experience with Health Care applications is preferred
