Assistant Director for Development Under the supervision of the Assistant Athletics Director for Revenue Generation and the Director for Development, the Assistant Director for Development position is responsible for executing capital and annual fundraising initiatives as a member of the Tennessee State Athletics' fundraising arm. Through managing a major gifts portfolio, raising funds to advance the Athletic Department's fundraising priorities in the areas of capital projects, annual giving, endowments and planned gifts the Assistant Director for Development will help to further advance the department of athletics. The Assistant Director for Development plans and implements an ongoing strategy for engagement and leadership giving to TSU Athletics from alumni, friends of the university, corporations, parents, student-athlete alumni, university faculty and staff, athletics staff and students.
Primary Responsibilities: • Plans and executes an effective annual fundraising strategy for Tennessee State Athletics by engaging alumni, friends, corporations, student-athlete alumni, faculty, staff and students. • Aggressively acts to grow the annual membership within the Tennessee State Athletic Fund through identifying and formally qualifying new prospects and existing donors through personal visits, phone calls, correspondence, events and university activities to meet fundraising objectives • Acts as a liaison between TSU Athletics and the University's Advancement office • Coordinates Athletics fundraising priorities, strategies, and prospects with the Director of Athletics. • Manages a portfolio of major gift prospects and new/discovery prospects capable of making significant financial contributions to meet capital project goals. • Seeks major gifts to advance Athletics priorities in the areas of Athletics endowments and planned gifts. • Creates written proposals and case statements for solicitation of individuals and organizations. • Assists the Athletics' External Operations team and the Tennessee State Athletic Fund team with developing printed materials, digital campaigns, and social media content. • Helps coordinate the execution of athletic donor-member benefits, special offers, and ticketing opportunities utilizing priority points. • Helps in the planning, implementation and execution of all fundraising events for the purposes of stewardship, cultivation, and solicitation. • Helps coordinate all stewardship efforts such as gift acknowledgements, thank you correspondence, recognition communications and special events for donors who contribute to the annual fund and capital projects. • Ranks and prioritizes member benefits for all members of the Tennessee State Athletic Fund • Collaborate with faculty, program directors, other university administrators and volunteers to identify, qualify, cultivate and solicit prospective donors. • Performs special duties and projects as requested by the Assistant Athletics Director for Revenue Generation and Engagement and the Director of Development.
Reports To: Director of Athletics
Qualifications and Experience: • Bachelor's Degree required • Three (3) years collegiate athletics development, preferably within a Division I institution • Experience in collegiate athletics development • Experience managing a major gift donor portfolio • Excellent oral and written communication skills • Marketing and public relations experience required • Event coordination and experience with Advantage and advanced fundraising software • Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations preferred • Experience working with Adobe creative suite • Experience with updating and maintain websites and various social media platforms • Must have ability to handle confidential data
Specialized Skills: • Proficient with Microsoft Office • Experience working with Adobe creative suite • Experience with updating and maintain websites and various social media platforms • Experience working with Ticketmaster and donor/ticketing software
