Senior Revenue Cycle Analyst - Per Diem (SOM Stratford)

SUMMARY: Under the supervision of the Director of Financial Decision Support, supports various strategic and operational objectives through the ability of technical financial and revenue cycle understanding. Collaborates with corporate departments, physicians, administrators, and other staff to investigate and design strategic solutions to improve revenue cycle statistics and performance. Responsible as the subject matter expert in the Financial Decision Support Team and will establish program wide consistency for Revenue Cycle processes based on best practices in the areas of the financial support tools for CDM, data mining and decision support.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Include the following:
Develops key performance metrics and other collaborative tools to support all operating areas of the practice plan in improving overall revenue cycle effectiveness using Decision Support tool(s) and specified data against best practice metrics.
Designs, prepares, and publishes a variety of reports and dashboards, maintains various logs and statistics, necessary to monitor programs, productivity and results of this department using Decision Support tool(s).
Prepares comparative analyses of payer fee schedule in relation to reimbursements received for services performed during current and previous fiscal years. Submits reports to CDO, Director of Financial Decision Support, and Managed Care and contracting leadership for appropriate action or revision.
Manages the Charge Master (CDM) and Reimbursement (profile fee) workflow among corporate departments to ensure compliance and accuracy for all systems Involved. Maintains database of all changes. Frequently reviews interpretation with documentation to support evidence base changes to fee basis.
Coordinates pricing strategy among unit heads to make certain adjustments are prepared in accordance with program changes. Ensures fee schedule compliance through ongoing comparative analysis and keeping up to date on changes with new codes, old codes, compliance issues, and market trends.
Conducts trend and comparative analysis of key financial data and performance indicators as identified for Revenue Cycle and special financial projects. Targets areas of improvement in revenue and cost for the practice plan where systems, processes and controls intersect.
Works with end-users and support departments in planning, developing and implementing business process changes as a result of Decision Support tool(s) software upgrades. Assists with supporting new process and system implementation by testing designed reports, dashboard centers, and distribution methods, ensuring a successful go-live.
Addresses internal controls and ensures change management plans are in place.
Attends conferences, educational seminars, classes on the latest technologies and best business practices.
Participates in University and School academic, business and research committees as needed. Collaborates with other units on enterprise wide planning and projects.
Responsible for facilitating work with various internal and external stakeholders. Identifies key business issues and develops appropriate action plans from multidisciplinary perspectives.
Understands and adheres to Rowan’s compliance standards as they appear in Rowans Corporate Compliance Policy Code of Conduct and Conflict of interest policy.
Keeps abreast of all pertinent federal, state and Rowan regulations, laws and policies as they presently exist and as they change or are modified.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Finance, Computer Science, or a related field plus at least five (5) years’ experience in a support role within a medical university environment with integrated clinical faculty practice plans, research, and educational programs. Experience with operations and/or business needs encompassing an Academic Medical Group, revenue cycle management, with a focus on functional areas of Billing, Accounts Receivable Finance Operations, Academic Faculty Practice Plan, and systems integration. Experience with professional fee based revenue cycle operations, professional fee pricing including charge master and fee schedule strategy, and industry best practices involving patient financial services and systems. Demonstrated proficiency in collaboration, conflict resolution, group interaction and dynamics. Demonstrated strong analytical, organizational and quantitative skills; including the ability to analyze, understand and summarize key issues. Knowledge of health insurance billing, receivables management, collection and data processing interface required. Prior experience with a decision support system(s), report analytics, SQL, MS Office, professional fee billing, practice management system(s) preferred. Outstanding human relations and the ability to function in a team environment required. Travel required throughout all Rowan locations, other academic medical centers, national user-group meetings and conferences.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Ability to sit at computer for extended periods of time and work with color dimensional charts.

This is a Per Diem position, working no more than 19 hours a week.
