We are currently seeking a Accounting Manager within the Financial Advisory and Technical COE in McKesson's Corporate segment. This is an individual contributor role and is focused on the accounting for complex accounting areas primarily within our Corporate segment. You will be part of the monthly close, ensuring accurate and timely financial statements, while having responsibility for a diverse range of complex accounting duties. A good understanding of US GAAP and accounting processes will be required for executing strategic initiatives or other complex accounting issues that arise, and bringing innovative ideas to improve current processes. As this role will be working in partnership with corporate leadership and business unit management, excellent communication skills, collaboration, and ability to influence others will be key in being successful in this role. Healthy curiosity, ability to challenge status quo and test new ideas will also be key. This role will also require the ability to take initiative, execute (debate, decide, commit) and deliver results consistently while keeping a positive and tenacious attitude.
What you'll do/Responsibilities/Position details
Partner and collaborate with various Corporate functions, third parties, and other tax and business unit partners to support internal transactions and initiatives. Sample complex areas within our team include, but are not limited to equity investments, captive insurance programs, redeemable non-controlling interests, hedging accounting, share-based compensation, restructuring and more.
Execution and/or review of month-end close activities including, but not limited to, journal entries, reconciliations, and reporting schedules.
Collaborate and coordinate with various business partners to obtain required financial reporting information and develop improvements to the financial reporting process.
Perform research and develop conclusions on complex issues and document in whitepapers in accordance with the applicable accounting guidance.
Engage in various other ad-hoc projects or initiatives & work effectively in a high growth environment
Promote and embody a culture of continuous improvement and operational innovation through ongoing evaluations process improvements and regular interactions with business owners and management on accounting matters.
Execute and/or support forecasting and budgeting process by working with key stakeholders as well as provide counsel and insights into financial results, forecasts, and risks.
Maintain and execute adequate internal controls for responsibilities.
Requires 7+ years of overall work experience
5+ years accounting and/or auditing experience
CPA designation or equivalent qualification is required
Thorough knowledge and understanding of US GAAP principles and SOX requirements
Advanced MS Excel (v-lookups, pivots, functions)
Strong verbal and written communication skills (ability to develop concise and effective communications tailored to specific audiences)
Ability to engage and influence multi-level staff up to executive management
Strong written and presentation development skills; intermediate to advance PowerPoint user
Prior experience managing multiple projects, competing priorities and short deadlines
Proven experience to drive prompt resolution of technical issues, communication of those issues and process improvement
Additional Knowledge & Skills
Experience with Hyperion (HFM), SAP or equivalent financial systems preferred
Strong critical thinking skills with ability to challenge conventional approaches and offer alternative solutions
Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
Strong sense of urgency and client-service approach
Education 4-year degree in finance, accounting, business administration or related field
MBA or other related advanced degree preferred
