SULLIVAN COUNTY REC
The Board of Directors of Sullivan County Rural Electric Cooperative, headquartered in Forksville, PA, is seeking qualified candidates to replace the CEO who is retiring in June 2022. The successful candidate will serve as the Cooperative’s CEO.
Candidates should have a minimum of 5 years of electric utility experience with at least 5 years in management positions, preferably within the rural electric program. A bachelor’s degree in business administration or electrical engineering is highly preferred. Holders of advanced degrees in these fields will receive additional consideration. The Board seeks candidates with broad electric utility management experience. Desired skills may include team building, operations, finance, accounting, business management, engineering, planning, member and board communications, and relations with affiliated organizations. The successful candidate will have excellent people and communications skills, proven leadership ability and a strong commitment to teamwork.
The cooperative has 19 total employees. The 9 line workers are represented by the IBEW. Sullivan County REC serves 6,000 residential and seasonal members as well as some commercial load. The system includes 5 substations and 900 miles of distribution lines across three counties.
Sullivan County REC is a member of the Allegheny Electric Cooperative. Inc., its wholesale power supplier. Other memberships include Pennsylvania Rural Electric Association, NRECA, CFC, NRTC and Federated Rural Electric Insurance Exchange.
Sullivan County REC is located in North Central PA and is part of the PA Wilds. The area is very scenic, heavily wooded with mountain streams and lakes which provides an abundance of outdoor activities. The area offers a high quality of rural life with a low cost of living in a setting of natural beauty. Three major health care providers serve the area. There are all the benefits of larger towns such as Williamsport, Danville, Bloomsburg, Wilkes-Barre within easy driving distance. The Cooperative is within a three-hour drive of the cultural and historical centers of New York City and Philadelphia.
It is preferred the CEO lives on Sullivan County REC electrical system. There are three school districts within the Co-op’s territory. There are also several colleges and universities within a two-hour radius.
