BOMA/GLA is seeking an enthusiastic, creative, and skilled Membership and Business Development Manager to join our team. In this position you will be responsible for executing the membership recruitment and sponsorship strategies for the association. Our members represent the commercial real estate industry and include building owners, managers, developers, leasing professionals, facility manager, asset managers, and those who service and supply the industry. Your role will be primarily responsible for facilitating membership growth, building a strong prospect database, implementing business development initiatives, and securing sponsors for organizational events and activities. The successful candidate will have a proven track record of creating and maintaining a strong customer/client relations program.
The Membership and Business Development Manager will support and execute the overall membership strategy and take lead in the application process, new member onboarding, and processing dues. The manager is responsible for establishing and implementing business development initiatives that foster relationships with industry representatives in support of the association’s yearly programs and activities. This will include building and maintaining strategic partnerships and creating a sales pipeline for prospective members, sponsors, and exhibitors.
AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:
Design, execute, and measure the success of membership recruitment strategies.
Design effective tools, processes, and messages to demonstrate the value proposition to potential members and ensure that all stakeholder material clearly communicates this message.
Conduct market research to track and prioritize potential members.
Act as a point of contact for membership application inquiries responding to oral, written, and email inquiries by providing prompt, accurate information.
Track and processes all member applications.
Maintain the integrity of the member database, ensuring the accuracy of its content including timely modification of all records.
Serve as a point of contact for inquiries related to sponsorship, providing the best service through effective communication of comprehensive and detailed information.
Responsible for documenting member communications regarding requests for change in member status.
Measure and track metrics to meet goals and drive organizational sustainability, cross-functionally collaborating with senior leadership and key stakeholders.
Cultivate a working relationship with BOMA/GLA’s members.
Build and maintain a sales pipeline for membership and sponsorship lines of business.
Lead sponsorship contracting and negotiation and advocate for BOMA/GLA sponsors during the day-to-day business discussions.
Monitor and administer membership dues payments; supports the annual membership renewal and billing process.
Execute all sponsorship and annual partner deliverables.
Prepare board reports and updates, update dashboards, and prepare data for relevant publications.
Be a relentless advocate for the member experience, while understanding how to drive business and mission priorities.
Membership/customer recruitment and retention strategies.

Creating meaningful connections to an industry and ultimately maintaining solid stakeholder relationships.
Understand and communicate the value proposition of association membership to the commercial real estate community, decision-makers, and stakeholders.

Minimum of 3-5 years relevant experience, ideally in a membership, business development, or nonprofit environment.
Bachelor’s Degree in marketing, finance, sales, business administration, or a related field preferred.
Successful sales track record a plus.
Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to foster relationships with diverse constituencies.
