As a not-for-profit organization, Lutheran Social Ministries of Maryland operates two continuing care retirement communities (CCRCs) in central Maryland; Carroll Lutheran Village in Westminster, MD and the Lutheran Village at Miller's Grant in Ellicott City, MD.
We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Corporate Director of Development and Facility Operations that support our two CCRC campuses.
What You’ll Get To Do as LSMMD’s Corporate Director of Development and Facility Operations.
In this role we are seeking someone with significant development experience understanding the complete construction process from design to shovels in the ground to turnover to on-site team members. This position also serves in a supervisory capacity to guide on-site Facilities & Housekeeping teams and partner with Executive Directors.
Serve on the development team as the organization’s liaison with vendors for large construction and renovation projects. Participating in most develop planning meetings.
Develop and manage capital expense budgets in concert with the community Directors of Facilities and Executive Directors. Ensure that capital projects are completed on schedule and perform and careful review at project completion.
Conduct on-site reviews of the grounds and physical plant with the Community Directors of Facilities and partner with the Executive Director and team to address any concerns.
Implement systems and controls to ensure adherence to budgets while maintaining safe and beautiful campuses and building and providing quality work and excellent service.
Provide onsite support to the Directors of Facilities / Operations.
Implement and monitor Quality Control and Preventative Maintenance Programs.
Develop and revise policies and procedures for Facility and Housekeeping departments.
Oversee and support community Facilities teams with Unit Turnovers at both communities.
Provide analysis and oversee and manage Worxhub maintenance / work order requisition tracking system.
Provide analysis of future land deals.

Why We Want You On Our Team – You’ll Bring:
7+ years of construction management experience
7+ years of leadership experience directing Facilities departments
Bachelor’s degree and/or certifications in a related field a plus
Experience in successfully managing relationships with contractors, subcontractors, and other outside vendors
Contract management experience is preferred
Specific understanding of engineering and mechanical systems, maintenance control/programming, equipment, buildings, systems, energy management and conservation, grounds maintenance procedures, and waste disposal
Previous experience working in a Continued Care Retirement Community (CCRC) a plus
Experience in team member development with an emphasis on team member retention.
A strong working knowledge of local, state, federal, and other building codes.
Solid financial skills and experience effectively managing resources and capital budgets and projects

The Lutheran Village at Miller’s Grant in Howard County, MD welcomed its first residents in 2016. Today, over 350 older
adults 55 and better call Miller’s Grant home. The community provides person centered care and opportunities for
residents to live the best life possible, and partners with community and educational organizations that share a passion for service and support for older adults. The care continuum allows residents to access on-site health care.
