The Office of Development and Alumni Affairs is responsible for raising philanthropic funds in support of the University of Maryland School of Pharmacy's mission and vision. The Office also serves to connect and provide meaningful services to alumni of its various programs. (

The selected candidate for this position is eligible for a sign-on bonus totaling of $3,000. Half of the bonus is payable within the first 30 days of hire and the remaining half is payable after successful completion of a probationary period of 12 months. The sign on bonus is eligible only to candidates new or returning to UMB.

JOB SUMMARY:
The Prospect Development Specialist will accomplish responsibilities by applying specialized and theoretical knowledge, principles, and concepts of a professional discipline normally acquired through advanced education or specialized training. Resolves issues and significant matters on behalf of management by utilizing independent judgment, discretion, creativity, and analytical thinking. Contributes to development and evaluation of goals and objectives. Creates solutions to ensure legal and policy compliance. May independently manage or administer programs, processes, projects, or resources. Applies intermediate level knowledge, concepts, principles, and skills. Decision making occurs within general guidelines and requires significant interpretation. Supervisor defines work guided by goals and objectives. Supervisor assists with unusual situations. Solutions require considerable analysis and evaluation of various alternatives. Independently anticipates needs and requirements to resolve non-routine matters.
PRIMARY DUTIES:
Prospect Development and Database Maintenance:

Complete research profiles on potential and current donors.

Verify high-level capacity ratings on wealth-screened lists using research resources such as WealthEngine and LexisNexis. Provide notes and analysis of key findings.

Collaborate on prospect identification projects as needed by associate dean and executive director
-
Monitors select publications for significant articles on prospects.

Conducts research and identifies prospects for cultivation. Prepare summaries and targets for Philanthropy officers.

Responsible for the maintenance of the prospect records by providing day-to- day support activities processing and reporting functions, including cultivation activities and prospect identification.

Ensure the accuracy of database through consistent input, maintenance, and review. Update prospect database and maintain data models, database designs, data access, and table maintenance and periodic system updates. Resolve database performance and capacity issues, and replication and other distributed data issues.

Create and compile prospect queries and reports as needed by management.

Administrative Support:

Coordination of stewardship correspondence such as gift acknowledgement letters and tracking

Prospect outreach for meetings on behalf of Associate Dean and Executive Director

Alumni/Donor database maintenance

Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Bachelor's degree
Experience: One (1) year of related philanthropy experience
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES

Ability to effectively communicate both verbal and written thoughts, ideas, and facts. Ability to work cooperatively with others and independently.
