Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: * Provides business and technical expertise for the analytics process, tools and applications for a business function or business unit. * Play a leading role in a cross-functional team of Actuarial Production Support analysts responsible for the following: * Respond to inquiries from policyholders, product managers, service delivery, producers and other areas of Equitable's requiring validation of policy values from illustration, issue or administrative systems. * Provide ongoing manual support of policy values for functions not supported due to limitations in the existing production systems. * Respond to requests to explain or validate policy values across life insurance product lines and resulting from either illustration or administrative production systems. * Track and record details about the inquiry to assure required SLA on response and to create historical record of the nature of the inquiries and resolution. * Based on knowledge of the product and a review of the production system results determine a possible explanation for the outcome and communicate. * As necessary, recreate the production scenario, as a test, to validate and then compare the results to the results from a quality assurance check system. Confirm if the results are valid, otherwise determine if there is an error in the production system which requires correction. Submit any required defect management documentation and provide communication of inquiry resolution. * Provide calculation of policy values and features not supported by the production systems for traditional products including inforce illustrations and inforce values like dividends, maximum loan values, and validation of master record data elements for a manual update. * Based on knowledge of the product and possibly data from the production system, generate required calculations and illustrations using spreadsheet templates and quality assurance check systems. * Provide calculation of cost of living increases for policies with the COLR rider using Life 70 production system data and spreadsheet templates to the Service Center for manual updating of the policy record. * Provide policy value adjustments for errors in client and transaction data where the administrative production system is unable to reverse and reapply. Based on knowledge of the product and production system data, the current production values need to be recreated and revalidated in a quality assurance check system. The required changes are then made in the check system and new values generated for communication to the Service Center. Scope includes: * Policy account adjustments for misstatement of age/sex for insureds that are living * Death benefit adjustments for misstatement of age/sex for insureds that are deceased. * Policy value adjustments to correct mistakes in processing financial transactions effective more than 2 years in the past for Life 70 and CAPS. * Provide review and signoff for monthly updates to the declared GIA rates in the Life 70 system for all UL/IL/IUL products supported. Working from a spreadsheet of products and associated register date ranges, assure the validity of the Ratebook card updates for the production system for the next month.
Skills required to ensure your success include:
Business Data Analysis: Knowledge of business data analysis; ability to collect, identify, analyze and interpret business data using various kinds of techniques to meet business needs and requirements.
Data Analysis Tools: Knowledge of key uses and benefits of data analysis tools; ability to utilize data analysis tools to identify factors influencing business performance and to gain greater insight into trends within a business, industry and customer base.
Data Gathering and Analysis: Knowledge of data gathering and analysis tools, techniques and processes; ability to gather and analyze data on the learning needs of a target population.
Decision Making and Critical Thinking: Knowledge of the decision-making process and associated tools and techniques; ability to accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment.
Other Qualifications: * Bachelor's degree with major in Math or Computer Science * 2 years+ professional experience with life insurance, specifically term, participating whole life, universal life, variable universal life and indexed universal life products * 2 years+ working with and creating Excel spreadsheet models to perform calculations. Experience with interactive debugging to analyze code a plus. * Ability to work in a cross functional team environment with exposure to all life insurance products and systems.
