The Senior Business Systems Analyst (Sr. BSA) supports business processes through the development, testing implementation and maintenance of technology solutions. Reporting to the Director of Business Systems, the Sr BSA programs business processes solutions; serves as a subject matter expert to provide technical guidance on proposed applications; and identifies areas where technology can be leveraged for more effective and efficient business processes. This position will be knowledgeable of software application requirements and general business requirements and will remain current on software applications, features, and functions to support the business needs.
The Sr. BSA will significantly contribute toward the objectives of improving business processes, satisfying campus wide resource needs for cost effective and efficient services and materials, conserving assets, achieving University goals and missions, and promoting its stated values and strategic plans.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate the ability to work collaboratively across departments; the ability to communicate effectively one-on-one as well as in a team setting; a commitment to premier customer service; and experience effectively working in multiple disciplines and cross functional assignments in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities include:
- Delivering services and solutions for the University community using Microsoft Power Platform suite (PowerApps, Power Automate \ Flow, SharePoint and Teams) and Microsoft SQL Azure.
- Developing PowerApps applications and leverages connecters to third party applications, including DocuSign.
- Developing SQL queries and stored procedures, and table trigger and indexes for applications.
- Building extract, transform and load (ETL) processes to migrate data from multiple applications (SAP, PeopleSoft), as well as SharePoint, Excel, Email and flat files for a consolidated SQL Azure database.
- Integrating APIs into systems and applications.
- Maintaining user confidence and protects operations by keeping information confidential.
- Maintaining professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; benchmarking state-of-the-art practices; participating in professional societies.
- Developing, deploying, and maintaining PowerApps and Power Automate solutions for Finance and Business Services, as well as for the support of key stakeholders through the university who rely on university systems.
- Developing, deploying, and maintaining Microsoft Azure database SQL queries and stored procedures, and manages data loads on a routine basis.
- Supporting system design and development by participating in stakeholder reviews, requirements gathering, process mapping, design documentation and testing. Includes both new system implementations, system upgrades and modifications to current systems, as well as new reports.
- Collaborating with DBA to maintain database through SQL tuning, and index creation \ modification, as well as support for database upgrades and maintenance.
- Providing user support in the following areas: system access and security for key business systems; responses to user support issues independently or in conjunction with Help Desk or PASSHE staff; act as resource for PASSHE or Help Desk staff for issue resolution as needed.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Information Systems, Business Administration, Computer Science or related field OR
- Five (5) Years of experience in a Business Systems Analyst role.
- Demonstrated experience of relational database design principles and UI Design.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Microsoft SharePoint Online
- Experience with Microsoft Power Platform (Power Apps and Power Automate)
- Experience with Microsoft Azure or SQL Server
- API Integration experience
- Experience with SAP (HR and / or Finance Module a plus)
- Experience performing QA / testing functions on a software development project
- Experience with Higher Education ERP solutions (PeopleSoft, Ellucian Banner a plus)
