This role will be known as Sr. Analyst, Manufacturing FP&A and Accounting among colleagues and within the business. Within the broader SC Johnson organization, the job is graded as a Senior Associate, Finance and Accounting.

Based in Chicago at our LEED platinum certified manufacturing facility, which we call the Southside Soapbox, the Sr. Analyst, Manufacturing FP&A and Accounting will report to the Director of Finance - Plant Controller. This role will be responsible for helping lead the month end close process, monthly reporting, periodic planning, and analyzing cost at the plant. This is a hybrid accounting + finance role that will collaborate with several functions across the organization. A great opportunity to learn and strengthen manufacturing accounting and FP&A in a plant that is 7 years young, still growing, and fun to be at. Working remotely until RTO (return to office) plan is in place when the coast is clear.
AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY
The Sr. Analyst, Manufacturing FP&A and Accounting will:
- Partner with site management and have responsibility of helping deliver budgeted functional and manufacturing expenses.
- Provide analytical support and leadership on various plant projects such as: Capital investments, functional expenses tracking and capacity planning.
- Perform month end close processes including Journal entries and variance analysis, with ability to identify, communicate and action key issues.
- Manage capital funds including reviewing business cases for capital spending and facilitating capital planning meetings.
- Transition to provide a monthly P&L forecast (COF) which details: paced volumes, functional expenses, manufacturing variances (efficiency/material) and absorption projections all linked to the S&OP process.
- Maintain process controls encompassing all elements of manufacturing accounting, including balance sheet reconciliations, capital vs. expense determination, and internal controls support documentation.
- Additional cross functional interfaces will include: Fixed Assets, Cost, Commercial Finance, Planning, Accounts Payable, Engineering, Strategy, Supply planning, and Tax.
- Provide timely, relevant and actionable reporting of key performance measures.
QUALIFICATIONS:
EXPERIENCE:
- 3-5 years of general or manufacturing accounting, costing, or FP&A experience
- Proficiency with Excel, Word, and Power Point. Intermediate level Microsoft Excel skills preferred (v-lookups, sum-ifs, or create a pivot table)
- Experience in fundamental accounting, cost management, analytical projects, and planning/forecasting.
- SAP experience is a big plus

- Proven ability to effectively work on a cross-functional team
- Flexibility to perform functions ranging from administrative to deeper-dive analytics
- Ability to work independently as well as ask for help when needed
- Demonstrated drive for results to improve process
- Proven work ethic required to support business during peak demand periods and as needed for a fast-paced, team-oriented growth company
- Sense of humor, a positive outlook with a "can-do" attitude and a very fun environment!
EDUCATION:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration.
