This role is in the Investment Products and Services (IPS) organization. IPS Engineering is accountable for the vendors, applications and integrations and investment data that helps NM deliver on the promise we made to deliver comprehensive planning, insurance and investments through a trusted advisor and engaging technology. It's that "whole picture" approach that helps clients create and grow wealth with personalized investments while protecting what they've already built. IPS is responsible for the "create and grow" part of this equation.
The Lead Software Engineer reports to the Assistant Director of Engineering and works in partnership with our technical teams and leadership. This role will be involved in an effort to improve our Money Movement capabilities for our Field and clients. She/He/They will help guide and design the solution and work with the IPS Engineering teams on implementation.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
Implements holistic solutions utilizing working relationships across the enterprise.
Designs, organizes, and executes high impact solutions across teams both within and outside their division.
Establishes, aggregates, and shares enterprise standards and best practices.
Mentors and guides junior engineers within respective division.
Ensures production stability, monitoring, and root cause analysis is executed for their products.
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience
6-8 years of professional experience required
5-8+ years of experience leading teams using modern engineering tools, languages, and practices.
Proven track record of successfully designing and delivering significant and impactful technology solutions.
Experience developing and leading solution delivery using agile methods.
Expert for the organization in one or more technologies: [insert as applicable when posting].
Successfully deals with ambiguity.
Recognized as the go-to expert within the division or department.
Ability to effectively communicate to both technical and non-technical audiences in varying forms and levels of detail.
Solid understanding of design patterns and architecture.
Experience with software engineering practices:
Modern programming languages (React, Node.js, Java, Python, Unix Shell)
Modern integration methods (Microapps, Microservice / API, Event Streaming, Secure Data File Exchange)
