Scope of the Role
The Risk Services Analyst (RSA) is responsible for assisting with and maintaining an enterprise risk management program to minimize the negative effects of risks on company business objectives. The RSA will provide support to the Manager of Enterprise Risk Services for identifying, analyzing, and reporting risks to the Internal Risk Management & Compliance Committee and Board of Directors. The RSA will integrate the Enterprise Risk Management program with various other programs across the organization through cross-functional collaboration. The Risk Services Analyst also has key responsibilities for the Golden Spread Enterprise Risk Management (ERM), Decision Analysis (DA) and Decision Quality (DQ) programs.
The RSA will assist in the collaboration efforts and data aggregation for evaluating GSEC’s Enterprise risks and communicating the interdependencies between keys risks. The RSA will be responsible for tracking and communicating the trends of these key risks in conjunction with the respective risk owners.
Under direction from the Manager of Enterprise Risk Services, the RSA will perform problem formulation and analysis related to key problems and projects within the organization in accordance with GSEC’s Decision Quality process. The RSA will work collaboratively with the Manager of Enterprise Risk Services to conduct subject matter expert interviews and will be the key point of contact for data collection.
The RSA will provide Decision Quality support by working with decision boards and teams to capture key insights and ensure follow-through on data requests.
Performance Outcomes
Value-Driven Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) & Risk Advisory / Partnership Services:
• Developing, managing, utilizing, maintaining, and expanding the quantitative and qualitative processes, analytical tools, and software used for risk assessment and reporting activities, including the Enterprise Risk & Value Model and tools.
• Identifying, understanding, and communicating interdependencies between key risks and help identify mutually beneficial mitigation strategies.
• Developing and maintaining a system or systems to track and monitor key risks.
• Providing support to the Manager of Enterprise Risk Services for reporting risks to the Internal Risk Management & Compliance Committee (IRMC) and Board.
• Integrating the ERM program with various other programs and processes, including compliance, risk assurance, business continuity, insurance, energy trading, strategic planning, capital budgeting, and project delivery.
• Developing the agenda and meeting requirements for IRMC meetings, including assistance circulating documents and acquiring feedback in timely manner.
Decision Analysis (DA) and Decision Quality (DQ):
• Performing problem formulation, analysis, business research, and assessment.
• Conducting subject matter expert interviews and working with key stakeholders to generate alternative strategies.
• Working with decision boards and teams to capture insights and ensure follow-through on data requests.
• Developing and maintaining the GSEC Decision Quality Process and documents, including Organizational Decision Quality (ODQ) training plans and communications.
• Developing and evaluating models of strategic business decisions in Excel.
• Developing and explaining outputs critical to decision-making, e.g., tornado, waterfall, and whisker charts.
• Partnering with the departments to perform Decision Quality gap analyses on significant decisions as requested.
Complexity of Problems
• The Enterprise Risk Specialist is challenged with furthering development of new programs. Sensitivity to and monitoring of GSEC’s changing corporate culture and differing department maturity levels is critical.
• It is imperative that this position maintain the utmost personal and professional integrity, attention to detail and accuracy, and confidentiality.
• This position must also discern and establish project priorities, manage multiple projects/deadlines and personnel simultaneously, work effectively under pressure, execute within strict deadlines, possess a strong work ethic, and strong organizational skills.

• Internal contacts will include employees at all levels within the organization.
• External contacts may be persons from Members, vendors, consultants, national and state associations, and regulators/auditors.
Education, Knowledge, and Experience Required
• A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university. Preferred candidates will have a degree in Finance, Economics, Business or Engineering.
• Two Years (2) experience in energy trading, derivatives, marketing or bulk power and gas system management.
• Two Years (2) experience in commercial or regulatory capacity in the energy industry preferred, including experience with wholesale power or natural gas markets, trading compliance and ERM program development, and/or business process improvement preferred.
• Knowledge and experience in building financial models and conducting probabilistic analyses.
• Knowledge and experience in risk control concepts, process improvement, program measurement and reporting.
• Knowledge and experience in generation and transmission operations preferred.
• General knowledge of industry regulatory rules and regulations (FERC, NERC, CFTC, RTO/ISO); state regulatory requirements and administrative procedures of the associated regulatory bodies.
• Understanding of energy hedging and portfolio management concepts and instruments.
• Ability to quickly assess the impact of new relevant industry, legal and regulatory information and applies knowledge to specific issues or situations relevant to GSEC.
