Job Description
Work within Crum & Forsters IT Department that has the unique mix of being part of a strong family of companies ( Fairfax Financial ) and is continuously improving an already innovative Agile culture. Operating out of our corporate offices in Morristown, New Jersey, and ten regional offices, Crum & Forster distributes products through approximately 1,500 authorized retail and wholesale brokers across the United States. We are looking for innovative, talented, and self-motivated individuals who are interested in working with a cross-functional team focused on production support of our Business Intelligence + Tableau + Cloud Data services team.
You will play a critical role in our highly visible and important Commercial Lines team initiatives. You will support all levels of leadership for our Agile culture (our people are expected to be autonomous, empowered and self-managing).
What you will do:
Perform the role of a Lead BA for Business Intelligence team+ Tableau + Cloud Data Services
Plan and lead small projects
Coordinate with other departments on the implementation of project as needed
Identify project risks and potential resolutions
Work with the BI squad team members to document the projects business requirements
Perform comprehensive data analysis
Identify project stakeholders and user classes
Elicit requirements using interviews, document analysis, requirements workshops, storyboards, surveys, site visits, business process analysis, use cases or user stories, scenarios, event lists, competitive product analysis, task and workflow analysis
Decompose high-level business and user requirements into functional requirements
Propose and implement business metrics for management reviews and work with business intelligence and data engineers to design and develop data infrastructure to support actionable items from KPIs
Represent requirements using alternative views, such as visual analysis models (diagrams), prototypes, or simulations, where appropriate
Participate in peer reviews and inspections of requirements documents. Participate in peer reviews of work products derived from requirements specifications to ensure that the requirements were interpreted correctly
Manage changes to baseline requirements through effective and appropriate application of change control processes and tools.
Establish and implement effective requirements practices, including the continuous improvement of a requirements process. Assist with the development of the organizations requirements engineering policies, procedures, and tools.
Identify ways to assist product management in product planning through requirements development and analysis. Propose new product features and updates
Sizing tasks (using story points and t-shirt sizing) to help planning, prioritization, and tracking progress Demo Tableau dashboards and visualizations
What you will bring to C&F:
5-7+ years of experience in business analysis and or data analysis
Good knowledge of Insurance
Experience in Requirement Analysis, Business and Systems reviews and working sessions to understand the requirements and system design Interview SMEs and Stakeholders to get a better understanding of client business processes and gather business requirements.
Communicates with all levels of organization including executive management as well as customers and suppliers. Requires professional communications.
Ability to work in an environment with deadlines and shifting priorities.
Experienced in developing data quality related documentation, business processes, flowcharts, working with varied computer systems
Develop training materials and specifications documentation for BI reports, dashboards, and other outputs
Ability to facilitate workshop sessions, develop process and data flow diagrams
Good presentation and demo skills
Strong Analytical and Problem Solving skills - Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner
Interpreting data, analyzing results using advanced techniques & submit findings and recommendations to senior management
Quick validation of reports & data
Provide support as required to ensure the availability and performance of enterprise data and BI environments for both external and internal users (~2000 business users)
Ability to query the database using SQL
Knowledge of using Excel for data analysis
Access database skills
Data visualization &Tableau skills would be a plus
Experience working with onshore/offshore teams
Knowledge of Agile(Kanban) concepts would be a plus
Experience using JIRA and Confluence would be a plus
Good knowledge of BI and ETL related technologies like SSRS, Tableau, SSIS, Informatica and Data Warehousing would be a plus
Experience using tools like SSMS, Toad would be a plus
