Job Description:
This is a mid-level Cross-Platform System Administrator position. The successful candidate will be part of a dynamic, highly collaborative team working to provide administration and system/performance monitoring for VMware, Storage, Linux, and AIX platforms. They will build, implement and maintain across multiple platform servers, perform hardware, operating system, security and application updates/patches as needed. This candidate will troubleshoot production incidents including corrective actions and determining root cause and will be included in a team on-call rotation. This position is part of a mission critical team and offers fantastic growth opportunity. This position requires someone that is process and detail oriented, with excellent written and verbal communication skills. One must have proven ability to decipher, comprehend, and prepare technical documentation. This position offers the opportunity to work collaboratively with application development groups and business organizations to support in-house or 3rd-party developed software
Additional Job Description:
- Design, test and configure infrastructures and solutions for various applications and configurations.
- Utilize strong analytical and troubleshooting skills to diagnose and resolve hardware, software, or other system issues.
- Develops infrastructure monitoring and reporting tools using configuration language and scripting tools.
- Identifies and creates processes to integrate technology improvements into business processes.
- Responsible for projects including the implementation of remediation activities, patch management, and firmware updates in a highly complex environment.
- Provides Level 3 technical support in critical production support issues interacting with Developers and Architects.
Knowledge/Skills considered a plus: - Experience with VMware virtualization technologies for compute, network, and storage virtualization
- Experience with RHEL 6,7, & 8
- Experience with an infrastructure configuration management tool such as Puppet, Chef, Ansible, IBM NIM
- Experience with scripting languages such as Bash, PowerCLI, Powershell, Perl, Python or TCL
- Service Administration - NTP, SAN/NFS, Sendmail, SNMP
- Experience in or with an ITIL tool such as Service-Now or Remedy (used for Change, Incident, Inventory, and Request management)
- Working knowledge of monitoring tools and concepts (HP Openview, HP Performance Manager, HP System Insight Manage, VROps)
- Working knowledge of WebLogic
- Familiarity with Object-Oriented Programming desired (Java)
- Knowledge of Linux server patching concepts and tools (Puppet, Satellite, etc)
- Knowledge of datacenter concepts including networking, storage, security, firewalls, directory services, load balancing, monitoring and scalability, and defining and maintaining performance metrics
- Experience working in an Kanban/Agile/Scrum environments
- Ownership and support of supporting configuration management and deployment automation tools, including Nexus, Puppet, Ansible, Jenkins, Jira, and Sonar.
Minimum Qualifications:Bachelor's Degree in computer science, computer engineering, or information systems and/or equivalent formal training or work experience. Two (2) years equivalent work experience in computer support information technology environment, and desktop computing along with the ability to apply basic computer concepts, theories, principles and methods to projects, business problems, issues and/or questions. Strong written and verbal communication skills. A related Master's Degree equals two (2) years' experience.
