Research Analyst or Senior Research Analyst or Lead Research Analyst - (210000QJ) The University of Maryland, Baltimore School of Social Work's Institute for Innovation and Implementation (The Institute) has multiple research analyst openings and is seeking motivated and talented individuals to join our team. The selected candidates' ranks will be determined upon review of their qualifications with possible titles being Research Analyst, Senior Research Analyst, or Lead Research Analyst . Our research and evaluation team compiles and analyzes data to guide systems and programs in their efforts to improve outcomes for children, families, and communities. Our goal is to facilitate the translation of evidence-based and promising practices to the field and to draw from their implementation successes and challenges to inform and conduct research. The open positions will assist with program/practice evaluation and continuous quality improvement activities to support transformative projects related to children's behavioral health and/or child welfare services. The Institute supports state and local governments and organizations to implement effective systems and practices to best meet the needs of children and youth with complex behavioral needs and their families. Over the past decade, The Institute has been involved with many key children's initiatives in Maryland and across the nation, many of which have been supported by federal grants, waivers, and contracts from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services' Administration for Children and Families (ACF), Center for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), and National Institute of Justice (NIJ). It is also a core partner in the National Wraparound Initiative. In Maryland, The Institute works closely with the Departments of Human Services, Juvenile Services, Health, and Education, supporting and informing systems-level reform efforts. Additionally, The Institute supports local and state efforts toward Wraparound Implementation and children's behavioral health-related efforts in several other states. Develops/contributes to the development of research and evaluation plans, including the study design, sampling, measurement, data collection procedures, and data analysis strategies. -
Assists service providers and agencies with collecting and maintaining quality data, including developing data collection procedures, building data collection instruments, and regularly reviewing data and providing feedback to resolve data quality issues. -
Uses best practices and protocols in data collection, data quality, management, analysis, and reporting, including developing special forms and/or formats for analyzing and presenting data. -
Manages data sets, such as merging, recoding, and cleaning data using statistical software packages (e.g., SPSS, SAS), and ensuring that data are ready for analysis. -
Analyzes data, including descriptive analyses and advanced statistical procedures using statistical software packages. -
Prepares reports, including summarizing relevant background literature and reporting and interpreting findings from data analyses, for ongoing evaluation reports, white papers, and manuscripts for submission to peer-reviewed journals. Presents work at meetings and academic conferences. -
May mentor other members of the research team, develops training and provides continued guidance on data collection, analysis, and storage. -
May oversee report preparation by other research staff, including reviewing reports for quality and accuracy, and ensuring that reporting deadlines are met. -
Develops, recommends, modifies, and implements policies and procedures and/or methods for research. -
Collaborates with implementation team members to ensure successful project administration. -
Performs other related duties as assigned. Qualifications Research Analyst: Bachelor's degree in Social Science, Public Policy, Mathematics, Statistics, Information Management, Health Science, or in a field of study related to the research. Master's Degree is preferred. A unique combination of education and experience may be considered. Senior Research Analyst: Bachelor's degree in Social Science, Public Policy, Mathematics, Statistics, Information Management, Health Science, or in a field of study related to the research. Master's Degree is preferred. Two (2) years of related experience in a research environment required. A unique combination of education and experience may be considered. Lead Research Analyst: Bachelor's degree in Social Science, Public Policy, Mathematics, Statistics, Information Management, Health Science, or in a field of study related to the research. Master's Degree is preferred. Three (3) years of related experience in a research environment required, including (2) years in the relevant research specialization. Knowledge of implementation science, rapid-cycle evaluation, and data visualization preferred. -
Knowledge of design of research studies and data collection procedures. Ability to understand and utilize scientific terminology and research theory. Skill in using measurable and verifiable information for making decisions and judgments. Skill in statistical programming, data analysis, and interpreting findings using statistical software (e.g., SPSS, SAS) as well as spreadsheet applications. -
Knowledgeable of position requirements and able to perform position in compliance with all requirements/regulations/laws. -
Strong organizational skills, including the ability to manage multiple projects at once, respond to tight timelines, pay attention to detail, and operate effectively in a fast-paced environment. -

The Hiring Range for the Research Analyst is in the $40,000s, commensurate with education and experience. The Hiring Range for the Senior Research Analyst is in the $50,000s, commensurate with education and experience.
