Under limited supervision, identify and fulfill the EUS equipment needs of facility projects for FedEx Ground, and FedEx Ground and Express colocations.
- Design, test and configure infrastructures and solutions for various applications and configurations.
- Utilize strong analytical and troubleshooting skills to diagnose and resolve hardware, software, or other system issues.
- Develops infrastructure monitoring and reporting tools using configuration language and scripting tools.
- Identifies and creates processes to integrate technology improvements into business processes.
- Responsible for projects including the implementation of remediation activities, patch management, and firmware updates in a highly complex environment.
- Provides Level 3 technical support in critical production support issues interacting with Developers and Architects.
- Proactively identify projects in the pipeline
- Consult with managing directors, senior managers, and maintenance managers to plan the necessary PCs, GRID devices, and zebra printers for facility projects
- Place project orders for all equipment needed at these facilities
- Identify and document configuration settings for these devices, and communicate that information to necessary teams for device fulfillment
- Assign network ID names and IP addresses as pertinent
- For relocations, prepare relocation spreadsheets that identify existing equipment, move plans, new equipment, and configuration details for TSR and site management
- Set up TSR assistance for larger facility projects
- Coordinate planning between TSR and site management
- Report progress in regular meetings with site planning and project management teams
- Monitor status of facility and network prior to go live date and IT testing
- Ensure that equipment is installed as needed for IT testing and go live
- Participate in testing and provide insight, troubleshooting, and direction as EUS equipment SME
- Work with employees and vendors in various support teams to ensure that issues at facility projects are resolved in a timely manner
- Respond quickly to changes in project scopes and schedules.
- Strong interpersonal skills to work with multiple teams and build relationships
Knowledge/Skills considered a plus: Basic understanding of networking, especially as it pertains to end user devices on an enterprise network
Basic understanding of DNS
PC troubleshooting
Analytical and problem-solving abilities
Self-motivated and directed, with the ability to effectively prioritize and execute, and shift prioritization when needed
Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment, working with colleagues across multiple teams to achieve common goals
Flexibility to be available for test calls during occasional evening hours and weekends.
Ability to research and test new technologies and solutions
Time management and organizational skills
Ability to communicate with staff
Ability to read site drawings and plans
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in computer science, computer engineering, or information systems and/or equivalent formal training or work experience. Two (2) years equivalent work experience in computer support information technology environment, and desktop computing along with the ability to apply basic computer concepts, theories, principles and methods to projects, business problems, issues and/or questions. Strong written and verbal communication skills. A related Master's Degree equals two (2) years' experience. More advanced degrees may offset experience requirements.
