Please take a moment to review NOVAâ™s Annual Security Reports.General Description: The Facilities Department is responsible for the planning, design, construction, operations, maintenance, and repair of the college facilities and grounds. The Planning Unit is responsible for space management, short-range, long-range project planning, and master planning. Reporting to the Manager of Space Planning & Design, the Project Manager/Planner is responsible for organizing and executing a wide variety of planning functions. The incumbent will provide administrative, technical, and analytical support to NOVAâ™s Master Plan Initiative. In addition, this position will manage minor construction, furniture, and move coordination projects. They will support the project management teams during the planning, design, construction, and closeout of projects. Key Responsibilities:Programming: Gather relevant information for the implementation of planning solutions, such as program, furniture, and equipment fit, application of space allocation metrics, develop preliminary cost estimates, identify technology needs, code requirements, schedule and enabling constraints, and identify campus/college impact.Project Management: Assume a lead role in the management of projects such as classroom upgrades, department relocations or reorganizations, furniture installation solutions, and feasibility studies. Responsible for managing the budget, schedule, and implementation of plans including coordination of internal stakeholders as well as external consultants. Closely coordinate project delivery with the end-users.Master Planning Administration: Working alongside the Master Planning Steering committee and consultant, this position will be responsible for coordinating all master plan activities, data gathering, communication, progress updates, meetings, and correspondence amongst various stakeholder groups.
Required KSAs:General knowledge in facilities planning, building design, construction administration and related activities.Working knowledge of space planning, commercial furniture (FF&E) and finishes.General knowledge in reading and understanding proposals, plans, contracts, purchase orders, and specifications for all phases of constructionWorking knowledge of MS tools, including Word, Excel and ProjectPossess good customer service and problem-solving skill sets.High level of customer service skills. Be comfortable coordinating with members of staff of all levels of seniority, both internally and with an external stakeholder.Ability to work productively with a wide variety of personnel within the CollegeMinimum Qualifications:Associate Degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management or similar field; OR equivalent applicable education, experience, and/or training.Understanding of project management principles.Valid Virginia driver's license and good driving record
