The COVID-19 pandemic has underlined the critical role – and the precarious situation – of public health infrastructure in the United States. The Kansas Health Institute (KHI) is seeking to hire a Senior Analyst to help fulfill our mission of improving the health of Kansans through nonpartisan research, education and engagement that support effective policymaking.

The ideal candidate for the Senior Analyst position will have extensive experience working in state or local public health and a track record of tackling system-level issues, including equity and social determinants of health. Knowledge of the core functions, essential services and principles and practices involved in contemporary public health, as well as public health data and policy, will position a candidate to succeed in the role. The ability to work productively with stakeholders who hold a wide range of perspectives on public health will be just as critical. In addition, a candidate should have knowledge of community health assessment and community health improvement planning processes and methodologies, e.g., Mobilizing for Action through Planning and Partnerships (MAPP).

A master’s degree in public health or a related field and at least 10 years of experience in public health are required. The successful candidate will be expected to manage existing projects while shaping new ones and should be familiar with a variety of research methods and tools, both quantitative and qualitative.

Other desired experience includes familiarity with grant-funded and contract research, a background in authentic community engagement, experience managing multiple projects and proven ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary, team-oriented setting.
