Summary Iowa State University Facilities Planning and Management (FP&M) in Ames, Iowa seeks candidates for aBuilding Security Specialist to coordinate and provide guidance on day-to-day building access, surveillance, and security issues campus wide.
Example of Duties â¢ Coordinates, configures, operates, and maintains physical and electronic security systems. â¢ Assists with developing customer rates and managing budget. â¢ Oversees and coordinates with staff on access and maintenance for security systems. â¢ Collaborates with vendors and contractors for security support. â¢ Assists in developing policies and procedures related to building access, surveillance, and security.
Level Guidelines â¢ Intermediate-level position with solid professional and/or technical skills working under general supervision to achieve goals â¢ Applies broad, working knowledge of the principles of the field to moderately complex, difficult, and varied problems and issues â¢ Exercises judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action and resolve problems â¢ Responds to a broad range of inquiries and requests â¢ May provide training and/or direction to lower-level staff â¢ May lead projects of moderate scope and complexity â¢ Provides guidance to students
The successful candidate will have excellent customer service skills, with the ability to adapt to an ever-changing environment. The ability to plan, coordinate and complete numerous projects at one time with excellent multi-tasking abilities will also be imperative in this position.
Hours: Regularly Monday â Friday, 7:30 am to 4:00 pm. Will be subject to after hours on-call rotation.
