Responsibilities
The Workers' Compensation Analyst is the UC Davis Health expert in the area of workers' compensation (WC) claims management. The Analyst organizes all aspects of the WC claim process and has the authority to make decisions and recommendations necessary for effective program management. Supports the Health System by providing resources and training to managers and employees regarding WC programs and procedures. Collaborates with Employee Health Services, the Return to Work Coordinator, Disability Management Services, the Third Party Administrator, legal counsel, and other applicable parties to facilitate claims management and cost containment. The Workers' Compensation Analyst assists in maintaining compliance with state and federal laws, and university policies and procedures. Provides back up to the Workers' Compensation Leaves of Absence and Return to Work Program Coordinator as necessary.

Required Qualifications

• Experience in workers' compensation claims administration and case management
• Current knowledge of California workers' compensation laws and regulations
• Current knowledge of FMLA and other relevant federal and state leave requirements
• Skills to interpret collective bargaining agreements and policy language for the purpose of applying to leave transactions
• Excellent oral and written communication skills, including delivery of group presentations
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact effectively and diplomatically both in person and over the phone
• Experience working in a Windows desktop user environment, including an excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Internet Explorer, and Outlook to generate correspondence, analyze data, create reports, and build presentations
• Excellent organizational and time management skills
• Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Risk Management, or related fields or equivalent experience and training

Preferred Qualifications

• WC designation or Self-Insurance certificate
• Related experience in medical or hospital field
• Experience with data analysis, loss exposure and related statistical analysis

Special Requirements
This position may be subject to a criminal background investigation, drug screen, Live Scan fingerprinting, medical evaluation clearance, and functional capacity assessment.
