Job Summary This position would be monitoring the hospital Charge Description Master (CDM), ensuring accuracy of the current CDM in addition to performing ongoing financial analytics relating to any changes made to billing, pricing, etc. Working with various hospital departments to support the organizations' pricing initiatives consistent with the hospital pricing policy.
The Pricing Analyst II will be responsible to:
Collect data and implement pricing of programs and services consistent with the hospital's pricing policy. Review financial impact of pricing initiatives and present impacts to Supervisor.
Complete appropriate processes to develop new charge codes, including obtaining the appropriate signoffs from hospital departments and documenting all new/changed codes. Communicate changes as necessary and maintain documentation within the department for others to easily access and reference. Track and monitor status of all CDM projects.
Perform the monthly reconciliation of hospital Item Master to CDM to ensure that when vendor costs change, charges are revised, if applicable.
Coordinate necessary system changes as a result of new/revised pricing. Interact with other hospital departments to facilitate the implementation of changes
Assist in modeling financial impacts and determines if estimated impact was achieved. Compile financial analytics and models financial impact for mid-year and annual pricing changes.
Provide functional supervision, training, reviewing, etc to Pricing Analyst I including
Assist in the coordination and production of all changes required for the Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) and Healthcare Common Procedure Coding System (HCPCS) code update.
Assist with pricing system upgrades including testing and coordination with Information System Department for go-live.
Assist in data upload for pricing software on a monthly basis including performing data reconciliation between the source and target system.
Attend educational seminars to stay current on pricing, reimbursement, billing and coding issues
To qualify, you must have:
A Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Economics or a Healthcare related field and at least 2-3 years of related experience in financial analysis or a similar role.
The analytical skills to collect information from diverse sources, applying professional principles in performing various analyses, and summarize the information and data for presentation
The initiative, strong communication and organizational abilities, healthcare processes, procedures
The knowledge of ICD-9, ICD-10, CPT and HCPCS codes preferred
A good understanding of hospital operations with third party reimbursement.
Computer based skills, and a proficiency in MS Office applications, in particular Excel and Access, enterprise systems such as Epic, and related healthcare systems
