The University of Cincinnati's information technology group (IT@UC) is seeking a new team member to join our Software Quality Assurance (QA) group. The responsibilities of the group span multiple areas that are critical to producing stable, high-quality applications and services. As a new member within the QA team, you will serve in an integral role in supporting core and custom solutions development, ensuring that delivered software solutions are designed, built, and implemented to provide a highly accessible user experience and outstanding quality to our customers.
Specifically, the quality assurance (Accessibility) team focuses their work on the areas listed below:
UI design validation and remediation to target WCAG2.1 AA Compliance Auditing & Testing
System functional and integration testing
UAT (Business processes testing) coordination and support
Browsers and Mobile devices compatibility testing
Usability and functional performance test
Application Security scanning & remediation support
Troubleshooting and resolution of customer support reports
Develop test plans, test cases, test scripts, and test reports for software application development projects.
Execute test cases utilizing targeted test data and report results and exceptions (defects).
Participate in the execution of User Acceptance Test with BCS.
Participate in business/functional requirements development, and ensure that defined requirements are testable.
Participate in defining Acceptance criteria for the definition of test completeness and test coverage.
Manage defects process during the product development phase.
Participate in defect triage meetings and provide defect status reporting.
Utilize a risk-based testing process to assure that high-priority business functions are tested first.
Identify and communicate all risks relative to testing for evaluation by the project team. Identify and document all product discrepancies during the test execution phase.
Define the most effective test strategy for each project based on technology, complexity, scope, and timeline.
Provide constant input for QA/test process improvements to achieve high-quality product releases.
Ensure compliance of the application with defined standards and guidelines (security, accessibility, etc.).
Establish and document measurable test objectives and provide test metrics progress reports to the project team.
Maintain and execute automated scripts to support CI/CD process and regression testing.
Bachelor's degree –OR- Associate's degree and a minimum of two (2) years of experience within General Information Technology or a related field, or four (4) years of related experience.
A minimum of two (2) years of relevant experience within Information Technology and/or Quality Assurance and direct customer care.
Outstanding communication and collaboration skills, as this role requires working with a wide range of customers.
Additonal Qualifications Considered
Working knowledge of WCAG2.1 AA Compliance Auditing & Testing
Working knowledge of Waterfall and Agile/Scrum software development methodologies.
Familiarity with all aspects of Quality Assurance testing of software systems and application, including functional, integration and regression testing.
Working knowledge of designing and documenting test strategy, test plans, test cases, acceptance criteria and user stories.
Experience in test data creation and maintenance, understanding of data validation process
Ability to independently analyze extensive datasets, identify discrepancies and inconsistencies and recommend a course of corrective action.
Basic knowledge of Test automation and Test automation tools and frameworks
Understanding of Information Security scanning & remediation support.
Working knowledge of project management and defect tracking systems.
Strong attention to detail, demonstrated analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Successful candidates will have outstanding communication and collaboration skills, as this role requires working with cross-functional as well as cross-departmental teams.
Experience using automated tools to conduct accessibility reviews, scans and remediation using dynamic and static analysis tools such as Level Access AMP.
Experience in UI/UX and Usability development and testing for websites and applications
Use of Jira for project/task/defect management in Agile development projects.
