As a member of the Career Discovery and Success Employer and Alumni Engagement team, the Job Location and Development (JLD) Coordinator designs strategies that support the administration and promotion of opportunities to students desiring paid, off-campus, part-time jobs that align with academic majors and career goals, as well as supports Auburn University's focus on high impact practices to promote student engagement in experiential learning opportunities (internships, co-ops, research, abroad opportunities, leadership, and creative works) that positively impact first destination outcomes.
The JLD Coordinator fulfills a vital role that increases access to part-time jobs and experiential opportunities for Auburn University students. Within this position, the JLD Coordinator develops relationships with off-campus employers interested in hiring Auburn students for paid jobs and internships (primarily part-time). Additionally, the JLD Coordinator manages a portfolio of off-campus, part-time job supervisors and works in conjunction with Auburn University Human Resources in relation to on-campus student employment to ensure the integration and development of the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE) Career Competencies within the opportunities provided to students.
The JLD Coordinator also works in collaboration with the Office of Student Financial Services to support the creation of off-campus Federal Work Study Opportunities to meet the requirements of the JLD grant, which has a key focus is on locating and developing opportunities for paid work that compliments a student's educational program and reinforces the development of career competencies related to a student's desired vocation.
