New Student Programs (NSP) is a unit under Enrollment Management that creates and supports shared UMSL experience that connects students to campus community and provide for a successful transition. The Coordinator will be a part of a four-member staff in New Student Programs and will report to the Assistant Director of New Student Programs.
This position will oversee the student leader development and engagement for all Campus Visit Experience programs and initiatives within Enrollment Management (Admissions and/or New Student Programs). This includes, but not limited to: Campus tours - personal or group, Orientation, Open Houses, Phone Call Campaigns, Welcome Programming, Webinars, and more.
In supporting the Campus Visit Experience, this position is responsible for recruitment, hiring, training and supervision of 30-40 Triton Leaders serving in various roles (front desk, tour guides, orientation leaders, phone call campaigners, etc.).
The position ensures a high-level of customer service is provided to students, parents, staff, faculty and visitors of the University by answering general inquiries and enrollment-related questions regarding admissions, academic advising, financial aid and registration, as well as office locations. Responsibilities include management of budget, purchasing, reporting and following University and state policies and procedures.
This position operates in a fast-paced environment, which required candidates to be detail-oriented, possess strong interpersonal skills, creatively problem-solve, and produce work at a high volume. Additionally, successful candidates must also possess the skills and flexibility necessary to balance highly independent and collaborative projects simultaneously.
COORDINATOR RESPONSIBILITIES MAY INCLUDE: 50% - Responsible for student leader event coverage for campus tours, and all Campus Events Experiences ensuring high-level customer service being provided to students, parents, staff, faculty and visitors of the University by answering general inquiries and answering enrollment related questions regarding admissions, academic advising, financial aid and registration. Training all Triton Leaders to be experts on giving a personalized campus tour, outlining specific roles in Orientation, Student for a Day, and additional campus event programming. Collaborate with other on-campus and off-campus offices/entities for involvement in recruitment visits and events, including the campus tour experience to engage with prospective and/or admitted students and families.
30% - Recruits, hires, trains, mentors and supervises an enthusiastic group of student leaders, who operate the Welcome Center, as well as give campus tours to visitors. Provides regular training, opportunities for team development and consistent feedback to student employees so they can provide accurate and timely information about the University to prospective students, faculty, staff, alumni, administrators and guests. Supervise and evaluate student employees to ensure that they are providing the highest level of customer service and accurate information, as well as displaying a positive and helpful attitude. Processes student employee paperwork, including payroll, work study awards, and scheduling.
10% - Assists with larger recruitment marketing and communication efforts where needed; outreach to prospective students, parents, counselors, etc. via email, social media, website, etc. Uses Slate, a Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software system to setup and manage events and to communicate with students regarding upcoming events and opportunities to visit campus.
5% - Stays ahead of industry developments including, but not limited to, changes in regulations, technology and best practices to maintain professional competence, knowledge and skills necessary for the satisfactory performance of all assigned responsibilities. Serves on internal and external committees related to recruitment of students of the University.
5% - Responsible for managing the budget in collaboration with office admin to ensure events and visits costs are paid and within budget as well as to ensure student hourly budget and work-study is on target and within annual allocation.

A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and 1 year of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary
* Three to five years related experience working with college students in higher education setting. * Knowledge and understanding of best practices in first year & transfer experiences and transition programs; student development, enrollment management, campus environments, community development, and student learning theories and their application in practice. * Experience with supervision, training, and evaluation of student paraprofessional staff and graduate level staff. * Proven ability to make confident decisions in a student-focused, change-oriented, fast-paced environment; * Excellent project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple tasks; adhere to strict timelines, and propose and implement effective solutions to roadblocks and problems; * Event planning skills including designing, marketing, implementing, and assessing impact; * Experience in identifying and sustaining working relationships with a variety of campus partners, including faculty and administrators. * Demonstrated willingness and commitment to supporting the needs of diverse populations. * Organizational and management skills including budget management, planning, evaluation and assessment, marketing, and problem-solving.
